Winning one titleabd playing for another...

I sure did hate his bone headed mistakes but I do miss the days of LSU football under Les Miles, especially the first half of his tenure here. That following the Nick Saban era was the golden age.

It’s so hard to confidently push the subject for me because how 1/9 and his career that followed sits with me, but I don’t disagree with you. He probably deserves it I just don’t have the energy to care one way or another. Hope that makes sense.

And somehow he managed to have a historic tenure. We were competitive in nearly every game he coached. There was seldom a game that we played where I felt we were overmatched or didn't have a chance. He made it exciting, the first half of his time here, and honestly that's about as much as a fan could ask for. His teams sucked on offense but they were tough as nails.

Winning a CFB National Championship is one of the hardest things to accomplish in sports. In the last 25 years there have been 300+ individual coaching seasons. Thats every school being one season over 25 years. 25 of those Coaches won Natties. Saban and Dabo won multiple.

How does that make sense? He had 5 top 5 recruiting classes.
And Eddie O had the greatest roster in LSU history.
What did they both do with lesser talent?

If anything some of those teams could have won games with a monkey coaching them.
I like Miles toughness and balls, but he made a lot of mistakes and got lucky on occasions. I still think he was a good coach.

I don’t know that either were elite coaches. Isn’t a HOF designated for the elite in a sport? Just my opinion. But I guess if there’s a win percentage rule and he meets that then let him in. Plus he was a national championship for my favorite team so I’m appreciative.
There I go using my energy on him.

Stop that

I believe the only recent winning HC (that are no longer coaching) not in HOF are Les, Jimbo, Chizik, & Orgeron.

Chizik & O are not eligible

Do his “off the field” shenanigans with student workers have any bearing on his candidacy?

It’s hard to remember that prior to that game, he actually had the head to head advantage over Saban, had beaten him two years in a row, and had a chance to become only the second coach to win multiple BCS titles (Urban had 2). Also, we had the distinction of having beaten two Power 5 OOC opponents who BOTH won their conferences in the same season. That couldn’t even happen today.
