According to SI he tied the 100 world record & broke the other 3 world records.

Ninety years ago at the 1935 Big Ten Track and Field Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich.

In less than an hour, the 21-year-old Ohio State sophomore tied the world record in the 100-yard dash and then set the world record in the long jump, the 220-yard dash and the 220 low hurdles.

Not trying to derail your thread but Billy Cannon ran the 100 within.2 seconds of the world record at 6'2" and 220 lbs.

Impressive at that size, but 2 tenths of a second in the 100 yard dash is a lot.
You're really comparing that to setting 4 World Records in a span of 45 minutes ?

And do you know who was in attendance at the track meet? Gerald Ford.

When he presented the Medal of Freedom to Owens when he was President he brought up this day.

It would be telling what TD's opinion would have been of Owens in 1936.

And that was 100 Yards, not 100 meters.
Dude was acting like Billy Cannon almost tied/broke the World Record
Were probably thousands of runners at that time that ran within 2 tenths of a second of the World Record

He's from Alabama.
Let's just say there is a reason that he was running for Ohio State

Track and field has an official formula for converting 100 yard to 100 meters time. Look it up.

Cannon was a generational athlete. Not impuning Owens. Just pointing out Cannon was an athletic freak. At his size to run that time plus bench 400 lbs is phenomenal.

Thousands who ran within .2 of the world record. Don't be a clown. I'm not sure why all the push back. I was just pointing out a fact.

There's a plaque there commemorating the day and Owens' performance.

What's your point ?
My point was that he was 2/10 off of the WR and it wasn't even 100 meters.
If it were 100 meters the gap would be even larger.
2/10 in 100 yard dash it huge.
