Why are people blaming NIL for small schools cutting programs?

These schools are cutting because just like everything else inflation is making it expensive to field non revenue teams

NIL isnt really a part of it.

Purdue Fort Wayne isnt cutting mens golf because the need NIL money for basketball and football. They are cutting it because their athletic department makes no money and at some point you have to make cuts…unless you are the federal government

Small schools are being forced to foot a massive chunk of the lawsuit.

Louisiana Tech for example is facing a reduction in revenue of about $350,000/year for the next ten years

That’s $350,000 Louisiana Tech doesn’t have.

Now think about smaller D1 schools like Stephen F Austin

This.

The NCAA “settlement” screwed the non-P4 schools.

It was basically set up to protect the rich schools and let the likes pay for it with their life blood.

Anyone supporting this garbage in the name of players getting what is theirs is just an idiot.

You are part of the reason they are being allowed to ruin college sports.

Undervaluing the compensation of a college education to act like these athletes were some kind of indentured servants just shows how stupid the average American is.

Those guarantee games were a free ride for non P4s…, they made money from P4s being who they were without having to compete at that level

No, its because they used to make a profit on football and basketball that subsidized the other sports. It didn’t fully cover the costs, but it helped a lot in reducing the total that the school’s general fund had to pay towards athletics.

Now with the revenue sharing stuff, profits from football and basketball that would have otherwise helped fund non-rev sports are now going towards paying football and basketball players. Non-P4’s already run an overall deficit on athletics and many AD’s will eventually be cutting non-revenue programs to make up the extra expense of paying players in revenue sports

Stop scheduling them and see how going 4-8 every year works for some P4 fanbases.

bullshite the non P4s have to foot as much of the “settlement” bill as they are. Should have to foot 10%, max.
