I caught an early screening of this film last night. It's being lauded by many critics as the best horror film of 2025 so far. It's an A24 film that's very reminiscent of Hereditary. Has anyone else seen it or plan to see it?

Did you enjoy Hereditary? If so, I think you'll like it.

Like most of A24's horror films, it starts slow and goes off the rails in the final act.

I watched it Monday. A lot of Hereditary vibes with a scene that haunts me more than the little girl’s head in the road. Excellent performances from the mother, blind girl, and freaky kid. I would put it at the same level as Talk to Me. The gruesome scenes make up for any faults in the story.

SPOILERS:

Did you make it through the knife scene without looking away? Did you feel sorry for Laura at the end?

You might want to add a spoiler tag to the title.

I wish I looked away. I was freaking out when he grabbed the knife but as soon as I heard the sound I knew it was going go to be much worse.

Nope. I lost all possible sympathy for her when she punched Piper. I only felt sorry for Piper losing Andy.

I thought it was worse than the telephone pole scene in Hereditary because it went on longer.

I felt the same as you, although when Laura was unable to bring herself to kill Piper to complete the ritual, I think it was the first time she realized she had gone too far. Still, I agree that I really only felt sorry for Piper for losing Andy and for Connor, for everything Laura put him through.

I caught it at Alamo Drafthouse here in Austin. I believe it's currently only in theaters.

I watched this last night actually, and it was decent. Not overly great, but the premise was cool and they sort of semi-stuck the landing (or at least it wasn't a horrible mess like a lot of horror movies these days).

Brutal body horror. Great acting. Fresh but predictable plot.

Yeah, it was definitely tough though. But to me, the kid eating his own flesh from his arm was worse.

I watched this last night holy shite.

Was good but a brutal film.

Sally Hawkins was incredible in this.

Watched it last week. It was ok but a definite notch below Hereditary. The knife scene didn’t stick with me like the decapitation scene did. I would put it on par with Talk to Me.
