Was looking okay until it wasn't and everything went south.

Oh well. Wasn't the first time and won't be the last...

Hope the rest of you did better.

Lolwut?

You’re mad that Powell hasn’t cut rates on a day when no one showed up to buy 20yr bonds and long term rates popped 10 basis points?

He cut rates to help democrats in the election he can cut rates now yes the sentiment would be different if Powell cut rates and the a-hole gop would cut spending in the bill and the bonds would not be in the shitter

It’s all about the deficit if they cut spending and he lowers rates it all helps the deficit. It can’t be stoppped or fixed but it can be slowed and what the frick was doge for if they don’t put any of it in a bill to stop it

So you agree it's not ALL on Powell?

FWIW, several recent Fed Chairmen have testified before congress that it's not in the Fed's mandate to bail out congressional created federal deficits.

Back to my other point he can try and manipulate an election but he can’t lower them now which is the right thing to do

Trump's tax cuts are seriously spooking investors. It'll be bleak if his "big beautiful bill" actually crosses the goalline.

I posted my comment before the end of the day in order to get a karma boost - hoping that once I started talking about how bad it was going, my luck would turn. It kinda worked. I broke even on all of my active stocks, as a couple of them made a huge comeback at the end of the day. I would have been pretty close to even, but for the fact that I washed my hands of that UNH stock early.

Okay but I personally believe your premise is flawed.

The Fed has basically had a zero rate interest policy for more than a decade.

With the COVID free money handouts spiking inflation in 2022, the Fed was forced to raise rates 11 consecutive times in order to reign in the massive inflation spike.

Once the growth in money supply began to slow, it was the correct policy, IMO, for the Fed to back off on rates.

The timing of the election was just incidental to the timing of the rate decreases.

After all, the Fed lowered rates in 2020 TWICE (by a total of -1.50%) before Trump ran for re-election. No doubt some Biden supporters believed that was done in order to help Trump get re-elected, which I don't believe.

my brokerage is for 20 years from now and laughing at any down days or overreactions. I don’t need that money now so it doesn’t affect me if it goes down

I started selling everything I was up 30% or more on the last 2 weeks in my trading account. Glad I did.

Taking the cash and investing in property in Nicaragua.
