Impressions of the Ram 3.0 Turbo Hurricane Engine

Ram has some really good deals on trucks now and I was wondering who has the new 3.0 engine and what their thoughts of it are and Ram trucks in general? Currently have a F150 with the 2.7 turbo and really have enjoyed it so far. Thanks

I test drove a Jeep Wagoneer with the new hurricane engine, and it was impressive. Zero turbo lag, plenty of power, and very quiet.
Still wouldn't take it over a GM 3.0 Duramax though.

From what I understand, if something breaks on the engine(very likely), it is very costly & time consuming to pull the engine/cab in order to repair. Sure, warranty pays IF you are in the warranty period, look out if you aren’t…

My wife just traded in her suburban for a wagoneer with this engine. Seems to have plenty of power. Accelerates quicker than the 5.3 in the suburban did and shifts very smooth. We only have about 2500 miles on it so far so hope it's reliable.

Man thats depressing to hear. The Best thing about inline engines is servicability. I guess they stuffed it under the firewall or something?

I used to shite all over Chrysler/FCA/Stellantis.
Then I got a company truck for a corporation that had about 600 of them in the fleet.
These trucks were on a 3 year lease and some of them had over 200k on when the lease came up.
Now, when I had to build my own fleet, I went with Ram.
No Hurricanes yet- but honestly, these trucks have been flawless. And we beat on them. Typically 19,000 lbs or more on a 5500. Pulling equipment with a V6 1500. A salesman with a Hemi 1500 that wears out tires in 40,000 miles. Hell, we had a Hemi 3500 that went 180,000 miles and typically weighed close to 14,000 lbs. every day- this was in 4WD, getting drug across jobsites and fields, and sometimes not getting turned off from 7 am to 7 pm.
I hate what Carlos Tavares did to try to gut the redneck out of Ram before they fired him, but I have to believe that somehow those engineers and quality people were able to make this thing reliable.

Wait and get one when they come back out with the 5.7. The hurricane is unproven and very costly to fix.

I just bought a 2025 Ram RHO with the 3.0 and it rips. I've had several raptors and the hurricane is significantly faster and smoother than the ecoboost with the Ford 10 speed transmission. The power delivery is very linear and acceleration is fantastic.
So far it's the best engine I've ever run in a truck and that includes Ford 3.5 ecoboost, Ford 6.7 diesel, 5.3 vortec, 6.2 vortec, and 5.7 hemi. That said, I only have about 3700 miles on it so far so we will see!

Hopefully without the E torque.

Thats interesting to hear. I’m interested in both the Raptor and RHO but you’re brave for buying a first model year of the Ram. Badass looking truck tho

So far I've been relatively lucky with the RHO as the only issue I have had was a dead battery that was fixed with a charge and software update. First model year always assumes some risk but I got a great deal on the RHO and a good trade number so it made sense
If you're thinking RHO you need to order from Mark Dodge and get a $10-13k discount depending on what incentives you qualify for
