Vanguard will let me buy corporate bonds but through an outside market and for a fee. Looking to buy directly and not a bond ETF or mutual funds.

Aside from that what are some good brokerages to buy corporate bonds?

Thanks in advance.

I hate to advertise for them, but Schwab is probably second to none when it comes to anything corporate bond related all the way down to junk, little to no fees that I'm aware of. Maybe Etrade as well?

My portfolio is 65/35
I buy individual corp bonds..
I use fidelity but that is because that is were my company 401 was

Depends what you want.. I ladder them and buy at least five years out to continue rolling my ladder..

Pretty much set it aaa- five years and go with that

Lots more if willing to do bbb+

I use to just buy in blocks of 20 but now I mix them more.. they have some with Large ( tend to be the mega companies) block set but enough with small limits to diversify .. not real sure why I play that game.. just do..

I use Schwab and it works great for me. Lots of options, a good search feature so you can find the bonds you want, and no fees. A caveat: I don't know if Schwab is better than other options because I have always used Schwab.

I use Vanguard and Schwab. Both are fine but I typically see Vanguard's quotes a little better on the ones I'm looking at.

Unless you’re buying blocks of at least 50k you should look at bullet bond ETFs. I know you say there are “no fees” but that’s not how bonds work. Schwab, Fidelity or whoever are buying their bonds from other dealers. Those dealers mark the bonds and then sell to Schwab/Fidelity. Schwab/Fidelity then mark the bonds again and then sell them to you with “no fee.” Just letting you know how the bond market works.

I'm an institutional bond salesman, your execution for retail size purchases is typically pretty poor...you can use any of the big mmgr web sites like schwab or Fidelity to buy

You can use this website to see how your execution will compare to institutional...blocks greater than 1mm

I like Fidelity for that. They have good pricing, and support. We hold virtually all of our corporate and muni bonds in our Fidelity account.
