Its a bluff , IMO. No way this will happen.. Louisiana isn't backing down from Churchill.

cdi is a piece of shite
people need to stop supporting their tracks, brands, and derby
put ur cash in tracks who are for breeders, fans, and bettors. Ones that give their signal away, have given away their pp's for meet, for free, etc. Yes, pump that money into keenelandn nyra, etc

Nyra is just as bad. The racing is awful year round, including Saratoga. Short fields, high take outs,
with the same outfits. Nothing is virtually left except Kentucky Downs. Better bang for your buck.

their problem is the weather, it can get brutaly cold up there for the Aquaduct meet., as well as brutal heat and humidity during toga meet
im a keeneland ball sucking homer. been 2 times and love the place, the racing, and the track in general.

Freaking Churchill. They've lowballed investment, especially purses, since forever. The racing would be much better even at Colonial "no handle" Downs levels.
But Louisiana rejecting HISA and embracing drug trainers doesn't help either.
And it doesn't help that the racing office runs the place like it's Evangeline Downs for a lot of the racing.....no sh$$ handle is down when you run conditioned 5s et al.
In the end, Fair Grounds is part of the community and the owner has the obligation to nourish it, not starve it. There's public trust involved here, or there should be.

Sounds like a shakedown to me.

Notice they pulled this shite while the legislature is in session so they could squeeze the maximum leverage out of the deal. They want to be the only track running when they have a meet? frick em.

Spot on. A bunch of clowns in the racing office. Its never going to change unless it changes ownership, but I wouldn't count on that. Churchill has put more emphasis into winter racing at Turfway, rather than FG. Rightfully so. Matter of time when Colonial gets more days too. Likely in February for an abbreviated meet till the end of March. By far, it's the worst meet in the winter, and its not even close.

Don't see them not having a meet this year. I can honestly care less, because its awful. Delta with a turf course.

Yep, its the best of the best.

They’ll have a meet cause the penalty for not racing is too steep. They are no different than any other business looking for an incentive. Posturing to squeeze every bit of money out of the game they can.
I kinda understand your contempt for the other tracks, but what track do you attend that you use as your baseline? You shite all over the Louisiana tracks, but where exactly do you think is the standard for racing? It’s not exactly a high class sport (if any actually are). And anyone who has ever been on the backside or dealt with the actual participants knows it’s not the most noble or refined bunch.

They are bluffing. If they don't run then the slot machines are unplugged plain and simple. And Churchill wont do that. They are required by law to run 84 days at FG. Only thing CDI can do is sell the property which includes the track and casino. They cannot sell the track and keep the casino or vice versa. And they cannot demolish the track because it sits on historical land or whatever they call it. So CDI can keep the track going and run 84 days or sell the whole property. That's their only 2 options.
Now purses might go down this year but they are running.

100% correct they can be fined a large amount of money each year

I think the penalty for not having a meet is $50K/day.
If true, they ain’t paying that. They’ll run mules before they take that hit

Yea Churchill doesn't like the Louisiana is free of HISA but there is nothing they can do about it. In fact if the Supreme Court rules in favor of HISA and Louisiana loses its lawsuit then there is a chance that Louisiana can opt out of HISA just like Texas did. Now that would really piss of CDI.

Aren’t there 3-4 states that rejected HISA? It’s not like we’re the only ones. And HISA isn’t just benign regulations aimed at ensuring the well being of the equine athletes. It’s federal regulations that all but make racing untenable.

Texas opted out of HISA. They did not file a lawsuit against HISA. They cannot send their signal out of state
Louisiana-West Virginia-Nebraska-Oregon i think are the 4 states that filed a lawsuit against HISA. The Supreme Court will hear the lawsuit and decide who is right.

Do you think Gulfstream is a premier meet? Because they run 8K NW 2-3 which is the same race at FG for 5K NW 2-3. But Gulfstream is a premier meet and FG isn't? Did i get that right?
What hurts FG is Oaklawn and their big purses
