Alright guys. My oldest is 8. Loves golf. The fitter I take lessons with said ditch his junior set and buy super game improvement irons and a real driver with senior shafts. He’ll cut them for us. Got a an older set of Adams golf super game improvement irons and a Callaway Rogue driver from second swing. Does anyone know of any youth programs? I started him in operation 36 on our sim and it’s helping and he loves it. Unfortunately there’s only operation 36 in lake Charles and Baton Rouge. Can seems to find a program in the Lafayette area. I will get him lessons but a program would be ideal. Or is anyone in this area in the same boat and want to bring our boys out and play? Just trying to make it fun it as fun as possible.

LeTriomphe has a kids program/league. Pretty sure they start soon and play during the summer. Call the pro shop

Whats a program?

You mean like a group clinic that meets once a week or every day for a week?

If so then yeah LT has those, not sure if open to non members but the 1 on 1 lessons are.

Wetlands might too, the head pro there is a good dude.

Unfortunately LT’s kids camp is during the day and during the week. Can’t get him there during a weekday. Operation 36 is a program where you have group instruction then you play 9 holes from 25 yards. All par 4’a once you shoot 36 or better you moved to 35 and so on. In LC unfortunately they do kids during the week. Sunday afternoons it’s women’s. I’d do it if it was on Sunday's. I’m hoping to get him in something like that that he can get in and grow. Not just a few days at a camp. I guess I’ll just continue to do it at home. Wished they had more stuff for kids golfers to do in the area in the late afternoons/ weekends.
Wetlands doesn’t to my knowledge. David Gary is great over there. I’ve taken lessons with him. Unfortunately he’s slowing down with lessons. Great guy. Thomas Wartelle is going to do a couple of lessons with him coming up.

He has an indoor facility in Lafayette. He’s great. I took 3 lessons. I always had a little pull draw with my irons. In a month I went from that to a true draw but I can now hit a draw or a fade. High or low. And my contact is more consistent. I have never had this much control over my shots as I have right now. Plus he’s a club fitter. Top 100 or top 50 Callaway fitter but he has most of the big brands. When he fitted me for a driver he knew the shaft I’d swing. We tested others but he nailed it before I even tested them. Something’s he taught me about a golf swing was the opposite of what I’d always been told.
He by no means is the cheapest. But he knows what he’s talking about and is great at teaching the golf swing.

Get some used US kids clubs.

He probably only needs 4 to 6 clubs total with putter.

There is also a reason he can charge that price while remaining completely booked (months in advance) for lessons.

I will refrain from anything more. My opinion has been stated and it is shared by many. Good luck.

As is my opinion, also shared by many. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be expensive or consistently booked.
