I have never seen a more creatively shot show in my life. Thousands of real B roll footage shots of new york that hilariously fits into a general theme with strange turns. Produced by Nathan Fielder. I strongly recommend. Best thing ive seen on a tv in awhile.

You can see a lot of the How to…influence in Nathan’s newer stuff, especially season 2 of the Rehearsal.

The episode where John Wilson jumps around from covering furniture, discussing why cats shouldn’t be de-clawed, and meeting the crazy anti-circumcision activist felt a lot like how Nathan jumped around on episode 3 this weekend.

Love that show, and I think I know why.

So in this 'mockumentary' genre, the premise is to analyze, discuss, and/or teach something, but partway through it usually gets derailed and ends up almost never actually being about the initial topic (or episode title) at all.

The Rehearsal with Nathan Fielder and Jon Glaser Loves Gear are other examples.

My hypothesis is that TD and SEC Rant in general are essentially that comedic style incarnate — most threads present a basic premise that quickly devolves in sometimes humorous and unexpected ways, which is similarly what makes these boards so entertaining.

I’m sorry but it’s absolutely insane to watch these shows and your thought be “this is just like the SEC rant!”

Watch this and tell me it doesn't have the same flow that underpins this entire site

Yes! You and I have that deadpan, non-sequitur Norm Macdonald humor that most people don't ever seem to quite understand (or want to).

Congratulations, you've found your people!

Man norm macdonald is my favorite. RIP.

Yeah man I stopped recommending shows to people because like you said, most people dont find this shite funny. Were all probably autistic on here… or atleast grazed by that tism a little bit
