Just wrapped up a mission trip in Memphis doing street evangelism in the name of Jesus Christ. The only way to heaven.

This nice huge church called Leawood Baptist church was kind enough to let us stay there to sleep and fellowship when not out on the streets.

A few of us stayed this morning to have breakfast and listen to their breakfast devotional/message.

Instead of preaching the love of Christ and the forgiveness of sin to the ones that only show up for the free breakfast, this guy talks about how we should not agree or disagree with transgenders because we don’t know everything and that kind of attitude turns people away from Jesus.

Then gave an example of a transgender getting offended and turning away from God because they were called out on it.

What is going on?

This is a “Baptist” church. Of course we don’t know everything. But what we do know from scripture is that you must repent and believe the gospel! You must be born again or you will not enter into heaven!

So I don’t know what’s going on in that church, but God moved in those streets! Stand on the word believers! It won’t fadeaway.

Happy Sunday and God bless!

I tend to agree with you on your opinions and theology but ... free speech. They can say what they like and you can too.

At the end of the day though, it's not what we say or think, it's what we do.

Male and female he made them.

I'm an atheist and even I know that transgenderism is not in line with Christian ideology.

Was the OP calling for governmental interference?

Churches are not called to share their opinions. They’re called to share Gods word.

I understand some churches take pride in twisting Gods word. But this is my first experience of a Baptist being so open about such a clear topic and getting it dead wrong. Wild.

Also, while what we do is vital, so is the message we share which requires us to say something.

You have to be a teenager huh? You’ll gain so much perspective and knowledge in the next 15 years. Just don’t be unteachable. But there’s a difference in “free speech” and pastoral leadership preaching blasphemy in the church.

I agree the word of god is plain and simple god has laid out HIS rules for humanity. If someone is uncomfortable with that’s their problem you’ll have your day

They are offended by the idea that God is in control and that they belong to him.

It's like accusing the GPS of turning people away from the right route, when the GPS corrects, the driver was already going the right way.

18ish years ago, I had a powerful encounter with Jesus thru the Holy Spirit while attending the Catholic Church(the denomination of my youth).
Anyway, I wnated to become a Deacon, so I began attending required Liberal Theology classes at our diocese headquarters. These courses came directly from Loyal University in Nola. After the third course, I dropped out. Their perception and interpretation of scripture was much much different from mine.
No thanks.

Amen. The part that bothered me the most was all the children in that room. Just like I was before salvation, I just wished if people disagreed with the word that they would just leave it alone. Just don’t worry about the Bible and live your life.

It’s crazy to me the amount of people that obsess with the Bible but disagree with so much of it. I’d be truly miserable if I was in the word all the time but didn’t truly believe it.

This started going downhill about 30 years ago when we started entering the Theological Longhouse.
