Baseball Season Tickets

Thinking about next year: How hard is it to get offered season tickets for baseball? I put in for football this year for the first time and got them and was wondering if baseball was similar to that. And being that I live 2 hours away and going to every game is impossible, could I re-sell on Seat Geek and maybe get my initial money back?
Thanks and Geaux Tigers

Probably won't have much available through LSU. They put out an email to sign up for tickets sometime after the season ends. There's usually a decent seat geek market for weekend game, but rarely will get anything for midweek.

Someone posted in a thread a few months ago that you needed to have a TAF ranking of 1,400 or better to get tickets this past season. That wasn't necessarily good tickets, but just being able to buy a pair. I've had my name on the list every year for a while and they never get close to me.

Dang, that's brutal

Dang, I had basically no priority points when I got my tickets out in the cheap seats. I've had them for probably 12 year though

Baseball season tickets are insanely difficult to obtain and I am not of the socioeconomic class that's apparently privileged enough to do so. For this reason, I attend one or two games every season or two and that's it. Buying good seats in Alex Box for a family of four is going to cost about 70% or more of what doing so in Tiger Stadium costs, and that's outrageous in my opinion. Like the other poster said, I got football season tickets the first time I tried but I've been trying for years to get baseball season tickets and LSU continues to tell me to go frick myself.

It is. What sucks is that the tickets aren't expensive so tons of people buy them and never go.
2 seats directly in front of me are held by someone that I've never met. He only goes to 1-2 games per year. Some games he gives them to friends who I have become friends with b/c we see each other at a lot of game. The seats next to him are on seat geek every single game. Ticket holder has never attended that I'm aware of.
The 4 tickets to the side of me have been occupied at 3 of the 20+ games I've attended this year. Once by the ticket holder and twice by other people. The seats behind me are usually empty, but when they are occupied, it's different people every single game. So I assume it's just someone with worse tickets (SRO) who just sits there because it's empty.
I know it's next to impossible for the vast majority of people to make every game, but it sucks there are so many tickets that are held and never used by the season ticket holder.

I'm genuinely curious, do tickets usually sell for more or less than face on seat geek or other 3rd party sellers? And I understand there is probably a difference between mid week and weekend, so for arguments sake let's just say SEC weekend games.

From what I've seen, they sell for way more than face value on Seat Geek for SEC games

You just started donating and want to be treated like royalty

Almost every year just before the season starts there are season tickets available on SeatGeek for usually about double what the season ticket holder paid LSU for the tickets.
When you think of paying "face value" you have to remember that the TAF required "donation" for grandstand green seats was $550/seat this season. So factoring that in for what the season ticket holder pays that TAF fee alone comes to over $15/ticket plus the amount for the ticket itself.
I've seen pairs of green seat tickets listed on SG this year for under $10/ticket (mid-week games) so those ticket holders are losing money on those tickets.

depends on how many philanthropic priority points you have and if you don't have enough it takes a large donation
Demand for baseball season tickets has always been very high and after the NC in 2023 I can only imagine the list has become longer.

I could easy double or triple my money selling my season tickets on SeatGeek game by game and still keep a few games for myself.
4 tickets in Section 120 (third base / left field bleachers) with a parking pass is under $1,700 for the season. I saw tickets on SeatGeek selling for the Mizzou series for $100 per ticket. That series alone, you could have gotten $1,000 for the weekend for those 4 tickets.
I know someone who paid $200 per ticket for the Friday Tennessee game in the outfield bleachers. That season ticket holder paid $250 for the whole season for each ticket (35 games). This person bought WAY too early and should not have paid that.
Tickets are cheap IF you get them as a season ticket holder, and you can sell each game above face value if you list them early enough. People who don't know better buy tickets far in advance and always overpay.
To be clear, I don't do this. I go to most games. I give away almost all of the games I don't attend.

75k donation would get you seats at least for one year. My family has been donating since taf was created small amounts. Football season ticket holders since 1959. You had to get season tickets when we sucked or before taf was created to get baseball. Or donate a pile of money I’m able to donate about $1000 per year my philanthropic points aren’t nearly enough to get a call back. 99% renewals so I’m told. Buy games the day of on seatgeek or this ticket exchange. Possibly find someone that already has them and split or buy direct.

It’s based off your philanthropic giving to acquire new seats. Which is tied to taf another way for them to make money so you can donate your whole life small amounts with not much to show for it.

You try and sell them on ticket exchange at that price people blast you I had 2 bama tix for sale for $300 in the grandstand got called a scalper. Didn’t think it was a bad price at all. Had buddies pay $400 per seat each game for tenner

It's hard to count mid week games for anything. I can get free grandstand tickets for almost any Tuesday game. You can buy grandstand seats next week for $7 before fees right now on seatgeek.
Green grandstand for the season is $1k. -> $450 (ticket) + $550 (Tradition Fund).
Right now on SeatGeek the best price for a pair in the green GS for Arkie 5/9 is $133 per ticket before fees. Again, that's the lowest price. Several are priced over $200, and some will sell for that.
tl;dr
A grandstand season ticket holder could sell about 2 SEC home series tickets and pay for the entire season.

I did not just start donating.

As stated all LSU sports season tickets are allocated based on philanthropic standing with TAF. We've also had football tickets for years now and also have been trying to acquire baseball season tickets. This year was the first year that I received feedback as to where we stood compared to the lucky few that were able to get tickets this year. I don't remember the philanthropic point number but I definitely remember that the donation amount in USD was north of 300k to reach that particular point ranking. It was very disheartening..
