Need to see & hear "Happy"? #1 Country Hit 'Mississippi' by 'Pussycat' from 1975

Took me 50 years to find this Country anthem even existed (and I'm not even a "Country" guy.")
YouTube had been recommending this song, 'Mississippi' by 'Pussycat' for months. Though its presence on the YT sidebar had become annoying,I decided to give these chicks and band a brief listen and was pleasantly shocked.
What I discovered was a gorgeous 50 year old tune that was a #1 Hit everywhere in the world except the USA, where it failed to even chart. (I presume DJs were clamoring for Disco instead at the time)
Great lead vocals, harmonies, composition, arrangement and joyous delivery. I miss this in music -- especially the joy and spirit.
'Pussycat', a Dutch pop group, was ironically memorializing "Mississippi" in song? Yep. The group was led by three Kowalczyk sisters: Toni (lead), Betty and Marianne.

The previous performance was from 1975.
As a matter of comparison the one (below) is from 1980, demonstrating the dramatic change in style just in 5 years.

interesting song, it sounds so familiar and yet i’ve never heard it before
thanks for posting, nice artifact from the past - and a good example of the difference between European standards and US, definitely dont see that sculpture behind the drummer in the first video getting past the censors in 1975

Same.
Songs that "sound familiar" to us, but never heard -- I remember my thinking just that when hear songs on a first listen for some reason -- and like them.

I'm still finding good and great songs and genres from the deep past that I somehow somehow missed. Glad you appreciated it
Hear ya on the Continental Euro committeemen to quality vs US s-- even in their music craft. They seem to have no qualms over openly cutting loose on their joy and spirit of singing without concerns over 'looking cool."

Heh, yea

No telecaster in a country song?
It sounds familiar because it's similar to a lot of songs progression wise, but so is everything.
It's not a bad song, just kind of cliche by that time.
Wonder who wrote it?

Remember what Bad Blake said in "Crazy Heart?"
"The great ones all sound like you heard em before".
