Once again, LaToya caught with her hand in the cookie jar and NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. You kind of have to respect the Teflon Suit she is wearing.

quote:

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell leaned on Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick in an attempt to help a controversial lieutenant’s shot at a promotion last fall, actions the Civil Service Commission in a new ruling called an “improper” violation of city policies.

Kirkpatrick initially complied with Cantrell’s interference on Lt. Sabrina Richardson’s behalf, civil service records show, with the chief telling officers, “Mayor Cantrell was the boss and she was going to do what her boss wanted,” civil service commissioners said.

The Chief (Kirkpatrick) went before the Federal Consent Decree and Civil Service Board's and TESTIFIED that Cantrell leaned on her. Ballsy move. I know a lot of people on the OT don't care for Kirkpatrick but I gotta respect her being honest.

quote:

NOPD released a separate statement noting that Kirkpatrick “consistently prioritized integrity and adherence to process, and the department will continue to uphold these standards moving forward.”

Kirkpatrick took office in November 2023 amid speculation that Cantrell denied NOPD’s then-interim chief Michelle Woodfork the permanent job because Woodfork upheld misconduct allegations against now-retired officer Jeffrey Vappie, Cantrell's former bodyguard and alleged paramour.

In later interfering with the department’s promotions last fall, police officers’ groups accused Cantrell of other political retaliation. They alleged she was trying to sideline two officers up for promotion to the rank of major because those officers had also signed off on the internal findings against Vappie.

More details at the link. In essence, Cantrell said "frick the test results and review boards, promote who I say."

New Orleans gets the leader it deserves.

The next one will be just as bad or even worse.

Here's the thing, if Latoya ran for 3rd term (term limits) she would win again hands down. Don't blame Latoya, blame the voters that put her there.

More apathetic than morons - generally less than 30% of eligible voters in the city vote in any election

There should be a voting quorum law - where at least 50% turnout is required. If not reached nothing happens and no one gets elected - we’d all be better off if no one was in office.

Considering the politics at the state level, its only a matter of time before the state brings charges against her.
