Should CA continue to receive federal funding for producing NOTHING? So far CA has received $17 billion and with the delays the total cost for the project has ballooned to $130 billion. The project was originally quoted $30 billion in 2008 when it was miraculously approved by voters. It's been over 17 years and they have barely laid down tracks to complete the 1st segment from Bakersfield to Merced. The entire project was supposed to be completed by now.

What finishes first, the High Speed Rail or the Baton Rouge Bridge?

Cancel it. It’s worse than all the nuclear plants under construction in the 1980s that were cancelled after Three Mile Island.

Sounds like an Elan project for fraud and waste.

The name of this really needs to be changed because what's happening has absolutely nothing to do with high speed rail. The California High Speed Money Burning Project is more accurate.

If ever there is an area of the country that could pull off high speed rail to the economic benefit of multiple states, it’s the southeast.

Hypothetically speaking, imagine the economic impact if you could turn bham to Nashville into a 30 minute trip or Nashville to the gulf coast in less than 3 hours.. unlike California which is densely populated with tons of mountains, canyons and hills to overcome from an engineering prospective, there is tons of available rural land with fewer geographical obstacles.

You could connect most SEC cities by rail.
