They have been performing the entire album while opening for the Deftones on this most recent tour.

The album is called Lucro Sucio; Los Ojos del Vacío.

This is a pretty solid live recording from Seattle of the entire new album. The woman singing with Cedric Bixler-Zavala is Omar Rodriguez-Lopez's girlfriend Teri Gender Bender, I'm not into her band Le Butcherettes but she sounds amazing singing with Cedric. As far as I know, her vocals are not on the album though.

I've been a fan since I saw them open for A Perfect Circle in 2004. They were absolutely my favorite band through Bedlam in Goliath, but I could see things going off the rails around that time. Their first mistake was firing Jon Theodore. Omar got a bit too much like a dictator and Cedric was doing coke and then got into Scientology. Octahedron and Noctourniquet were very forgettable.

When they came back, I was lukewarm on the S/T album but it grew on me. It's very good. I've listened to a few tracks on the new album and it sounds ok...not sure if I dig it or not yet. Time will tell.

Thanks for the video. I saw their set at the Deftones show in Houston and the new stuff sounded great.

I agree with much of what you say - Frances the Mute and Amputechture are great albums. They did a great show at the Orpheum during Jazz Fest 2005 - they either came out to the Doctor Who theme or left to the Doctor Who theme. Omar was humping the stage while moving backward, Cedric was playing guitar and doing this little dance like Prince used to do. I just never got back onboard after they reunited.

There's a pretty good documentary that came out a few months ago about Omar and Cedric and their relationship -- "If This Ever Gets Weird". You can rent it on Amazon, Apple, etc. Lots of good footage of the band from their heyday. Got me to pull out those classic records and give them another listen.

It was the Fistful of Dollars theme. They came out to that for every show at least through 2009.

I was at that Orpheus show. A couple in the row in front of me started fricking during the slow parts of Cassandra Gemini. That show was incredible though. It was peak Volta IMO. They were just on fire at the time and it was the best lineup of the band.

I got to go backstage after the show and met everyone but Cedric, who was skateboarding somewhere nearby. Omar had his shirt off and looked straight up anorexic. I talked to Adrian, the sax player, and Marcel the most. Very nice guys. Ikey (RIP) had a posse around him and didn’t seem to want to be bothered.

That documentary was awesome BTW. Omar filmed lots of stuff, which was cool to see. He did a great job with the narration, and it was great to see the parts where he finally reunited with Cedric.
