If they would have the foresight of making a sports complex to have baseball and softball fields and maybe 1 or 2 soccer fields in the back it would generate more revenue. We got all the hotels on Hwy 30 to support weekend tournaments and a world series.

But no, we got 100 soccer goals. Ascension Parish is good now.

We need to model a sports complex after the one in Broussard. Top notch place to play.

Because softball isn't a real sport? Why would I want to go and watch someone swing a larger bat at what is essentially a highlighter yellow tennis ball the size of a volleyball thrown at 40mph?

That's because softball isn't a real sport. Why would we waste parish money on made up fallacy. Badminton ranks higher than softball, are going to have those taking over the complex next?

It took more effort to type that reply than it does to "play" "softball"

Just looking at the satellite view. (assuming the photo is accurate) Looks like there are 7 soccer fields. I am guessing that would be enough room for 3 maybe 4 baseball fields. So how much money could a 3 or 4 field complex really generate ?

Seems like the kids in the surrounding parish play more baseball/softball than some pusssy arse sport like soccer

The only positive thing to come out of softball is the rise in Subaru stock from all of the outback purchases.

Because that area isn't owned/part of Lamar Dixon. It's the Cajun Industries Soccer Complex, used by the Ascension Flight Soccer Club

Maybe if there were enough kids playing baseball/softball in AP to have a club/organization that could partner with a business to build it, it would have happened.

They host 7on7 tournaments nearly every weekend in spring. We played on a turf field that was lined for both football and soccer.

Sorry, I am confused. Which is the sport that has the kids doing absolutely nothing for 94% of the game? But it's cool because they get to wear oven mitts to run around.

A metric frick ton. $10 entry fees, $3 powerades, $2 candies, $8 chicken finger baskets, $350 team entry fees.

If each team has 12 kids on it, and each kid has 1.5 adults attending, that’s $1,800 per day in entry fees per wqch team. A normal bracket will
Have 6-16 teams, let’s just say 10, each age group will bring in $18,000/day in just gate fees. If each adult spends another $10 at the park (way low) that’s an additional $18,000/day. Realistically that’s probably closer to $36,000/day/age-group.

If you do 3 age groups you’re looking at approaching $120,000 a day for a big tournament.

I believe they had some interest in putting some baseball/softball fields to host tournaments but it was not approved

They do have four fields that can be used at another ascension park that can host youth tourneys

I get that.. my point was there are 3-4 field complexes that are unused for tournaments all the time in the area.. Now if we were talking about a 10 field complex or bigger, yes that would be an attractive facility , but also would cost a lot more to build than those soccer fields

Every time u ride by lamar dixon the soccer fields are empty…except maybe 4-5 times a yr on weekends…wasted space. Totally wasted.

Yet travel ball baseball/softball families got to travel outta parish to have a decent place to play.
