in an all time loaded SEC And still 6 weeks to go. Already over halfway to a national seed! Don’t look now but 20 SEC wins seems very real at this point

would’ve thought that about this weekend and yet a sweep tomorrow is likely. Only series I’d suspect we would lose right now is Tennessee or Arkansas.

There’s 5 teams that are separating themselves in the SEC and we’re one of them.

Halfway to 18 wins… 18 wins this year is a guaranteed national seed you could argue 16-17 wins will get the job done this year. Anything more is lagniappe

Of course it's not, but 9 wins through 11 means we can go 11-8 in our last 20 and still be 20-10. We are giving ourselves some nice cushion the remainder of the schedule.

Meh it all depends on a lot that LSU can't control. There are a lot of teams in the SEC right now that look like they will win a lot of games. If 17 wins puts you in 3rd in the SEC then yeah it's maybe a top 8. If 17 wins puts you in tie for 6th place, then probably not. Let's just win 20 and not even worry.

If LSU finishes off their last 5 non-conference games, 17-13 with a 25-1 non-conference record might have the RPI high enough to get a national seed. Georgia did it last year, was the 7th overall seed.

18 should comfortably get it. The top 10 currently has 8 SEC teams in it right now.

my point. Last year has no bearing. If tennessee, texas, georgia, and arkansas all finish with 19 wins, 17 wont be good enough. Not that i expect that to happen. Texas will fall off soon

I’m not following. If the committee is the same members, last year’s decision should matter. The top 4 SEC teams had 19 or more wins last year, and they granted a 17 win team a national seed.

Love the start and I think we’re a very good baseball club, but the schedule from this year and last year to this point of the season is night and day. We played like 5 top 10 teams in a row to start the season lol

Well that was because no other conferences had strong contenders. This season may be different. Georgia got it by default. If lsu were to win 17 this year, theyd likely have some competition.

Teams like ucla; arizona, arizona st, irvine, kansas st, etc could jump up and take it

It really is. You can never count on sweeping an SEC series, especially on the road. But our pitching will not be set up any better to win a 3rd game on the road for the rest of the season most likely. Need to take advantage of this opportunity and add to that cushion. Because the schedule is about to get brutal as y’all have pointed out.

Arkansas and Tennessee are both going to be tough, but they’re both at home. Auburn isn’t bad, Bama isn’t bad, Aggie stinks, and the Cocks aren’t great. Let’s say we win today and will be 10-2. Win at least 2 out 3 the next 5 out of 6 weekends and not get swept, you’re looking at 21-9. That record gets you a top 8 seed. The pitching staff will get better with time.

Last year, the SEC schedule was front-loaded with power teams. This year it's rear-loaded.

In this conference, a rough stretch is always just around the corner.
