The whole world is about to get tariffed and it will be make or break for many SMB businesses with 5-100 employees across the country.
Buckle up.
Buckle up.

Trump is liberating everyone”s money from the stock market.

I tend to agree. I think the mega-corporations will grow larger and the mom-and-pop shops will bear the brunt.

Microsoft announced on Friday that they have shut down two data centers builds in NOVA that my company had contracts to work on. These aren't planned builds but builds that were already underway and millions if not tens of millions had already been spent on.

The tariff rollout has been shitty and haphazard, no doubt, but the majority of the markets problems are in the Mag 7 - companies that are largely insulated from tariffs.
In other words, tariffs are probably getting too much of the blame despite their shitty execution.

If -5% YTD has your panties twisted, try a savings account or a CD.

Why are you so testy?
Regardless, what’s your point? They’ve canceled a few leases but most have been picked up by Alphabet and Meta so far.

Were these USGov specific data centers, as they already have 2 Azure data centers in VA along with a USGov data center in VA?
There is zero reason to place another public azure data center in VA, so I assume USGov.

I voted for Trump but don’t get why everyone on here won’t say one thing negative.
It’s ok to like Trump but think tariffs are a bad idea. If this doesn’t work out we will get demolished in the midterms
Hard to believe most Trump fans on here agree with 100% of their sides idea.

Weak.
The accepted response is "short term pain, long term gain (for some)"

Don't know. There are so many data centers going up here right now who knows what the use is? They don't share white space information with the subs in most instances.

Trump posted that he will be putting a tariff on illegal drugs smuggled into the country. Why hadn’t any other president thought of that?

You are absolutely right. And how long is the runway with higher prices before many of those companies have to re-evaluate the fundamentals of their business in general. Makes sense to bring in pet products or sports equipment and run a $3-10M business with 20 employees when trade is flowing freely. Not so much when your COGS nearly doubles due to tariffs. And I just can't get behind the, "good frick them, buy here or don't buy anywhere mentality" on products that nobody wants to or should make here in the first place. The economy is far better for that type of business person importing and more importantly employing than not having a company at all.
If I remember right, you are an importer right?
I founded a global forwarder in 2021 after being at UPS Global. We work mainly with shippers moving 20-500 containers a year. They are all waiting very nervously today.
I left GlobalPet expo last week and Natural Products Expo a few weeks before that. The tone from every company there was tariffs and the drastic impact they will have on how they run their business, hire/fire, borrow money, etc.

We moved into a house that was falling apart and you people are upset that the renovation is making a little mess. It's April of the first year for Pete's sake.

Microsoft has been walking away from some data center projects in the US and Europe in Q1 of 2025. Having tens of millions spent is not that big of a deal, they are $2.79 trillion dollar company.
Many of the data center cancellations were around AI, so it could be just that.

You're probably right. We have not been seeing pullbacks from any other data centers. They are all full steam ahead.

It truly is a cult. Nobody should blindly follow and believe in the infallible nature of one person.
