Heading to Guadaupe Mountains and New Mexico. Was going to stop over in Van Horn as a jumping off point and was looking for something unique instead of a motel chain. Is it worth a look?

Stayed there a couple times. Small but clean and comfortable rooms. Restaurant is decent. Best option between San Antonio and El Paso.

I love this place. I stop yearly when I drive out west. Read up on the history, it's about 100 years old, was built as a part of a small chain of hotels to encourage tourism when cars were new. They have a little restaurant and gift shop, and the lobby is really nice if you are into old spanish roadhouses. It was designed by a significant architect in the southwest.

Big fan and wish I could get there more often.

Also if you get through El Paso, eat at L&J Cafe.
