Watched “Trap” last night. I thought Hartnett was dark and creepy and his subtle facial expressions were excellent.

So it dawned on me that Hartnett would be perfect. He’s the right age, physicality and clearly got the acting chops.

While Pattinson will continue playing Batman, it will be in a separate, Elseworlds canon. That way, Reeves can continue telling the story he started in The Batman and The Penguin, and the DCU can craft its Batman with his own unique lore and world. Notably, the DCU is slated to feature multiple Robins, including Damian Wayne, Dick Grayson, and Jason Todd, implying that its Bruce Wayne will be well into his tenure as Batman. This directly contrasts with Pattinson's early-career Batman, making it much clearer as to why the decision was made to separate the two.

I'm still not convinced that it won't be Robert Pattinson. Having two different Batman universes at the same time is pretty dumb.

I feel like he used to be a very common option discussed in the earlier 2000s, it’s pretty funny that Trap is what made you think this though

Don’t see Pattinson being super interested in wearing a cape in 10 movies. Think he’s probably already ready to get his trilogy and move on to other things given his seeming frustration with how long it’s taken for the sequel to get made.

Also trying to make Reeves world merge with James Gunns world sounds like a disaster

Probably, but this is ultimately David Zaslav's call. I don't think he wants two Batman universes, he's mentioned that before. So either Reeves agrees or I could see Zaslav and Gunn moving on.

In a sense, but I don’t think there’s anything he could do that would make reaves or Pattinson interested in that and they’ll just move on if they scrap the reaves universe entirely and given Zaslavs track record, the Gunn universe will bomb too.

I agree, but the reason I still think the door is open is because Reeves is a producer on upcoming DCU projects. I think if he gets a guarantee that he can make his trilogy without worrying about Gunn's films, then it can happen.

From a business standpoint, does it really make sense to hand over 150+ mil to Reeves for his film, then another 150+ mil to Gunn for his? With the struggles that WB is having, that's asking a lot. I get the sense that Zaslav will try and work something out with Reeves.

After his brutal rise to power, I cannot think of a better ending for Farrell’s Penguin than getting apprehended by Superman’s dog. I don’t doubt Zaslav would agree.

He never gave off Batman vibes to me before

I thought everyone liked Hartnett. I think I've liked him in every movie he's been in, even if the movie sucked.

I don't think it will be Pattinson, but if it takes having two Batmans to keep the Reeves universe around I'm good with that.

Yep, he’ll always be a goat to me for Black Hawk Down. I think he stopped acting because he just didn’t want to do it anymore, didn’t realize he came back

I wouldn’t be shocked if Reeves Batman gets cancelled all together.

Seems like it has “new Rey Star Wars movie” vibes.

A lot of this depends on how Superman does, IMO.
