15 years later and I still can’t believe that he had the balls to take that shot.

He made a big balls shot the game before against UNLV too. That’s why he wore baggy shorts

An absolute legend

Farokhmanesh and Bryce Drew both head coaches now. Someone go find TJ Sorrentine

You can’t be serious with that shot !!

There’s this great video he did (on YouTube) a year or two ago where he went around interviewing Kansas fans about their recollection of that game and then after politely introduced himself as Ali Faroukmanesh (no one recognized him).

I just went back and watched it and that was probably an ill advised shot. Haha.

But it worked and made him a legend amongst basketball fans.

He was wide open in transition.

Running clock with 37 seconds left (plenty of game left), only up by 1... resorting to a frazzled guarded shot just to burn time was not a better option....

Its not like Kansas was down 3 with 10 seconds left and all you needed was a foul and 1 to ice.

He was a 38% shooter from 3 and made a big three the game before. Probably had the green light. Even if fully ran out shot clock Kansas would have had 8 seconds to come down for a look.
Lions, not sheep. Don’t play scared. Mamba mentality wants the ball and to stomp them.

He’s coaching these days too, assistant with the Washington Wizards.

That Vermont team never happens today as Sorrentine and Coppenwrath probably would have gotten an NIL bag after their first tourney appearance in 2003.

100%. Your post was why we all loved college sports and why it will probably never be the same again.
