Guess the draconian emissions restrictions are being rolled back slightly?

They’ve had a tough time selling trucks, performance cars, and large SUV’s without V8s the last year or so.

The latest report comes from Mopar Insiders, which cites a source within Stellantis claiming that production of the 5.7-liter, supercharged 6.2-liter, and 6.4-liter Apache V8 will come online at the company’s Dundee Engine Plant in Michigan as soon as August. Notably, the Hurricane I6 is still produced in Saltillo, where tooling for the old Hemi lineup was removed to make room for the new engine family. Production of the heavy-duty variant of the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 has been ongoing while others have been on hiatus.

You ever own one? First time you have to change the plugs you'll sell that bitch and never buy another at any price. That growl is nice, though.

It was a completely stupid move to get rid of an engine with a proven history. Nobody wants to be the guinea pig.

I’ve changed the plugs on a Ford 5.4L before. I can handle the HEMI.

It sounds like the hurricane engine is also very expensive to produce.

Oh. I remember thinking the same. Everything on that engine is hard to get to. And almost everything requires a special tool.

If they can roll back regulations just enough to where GM doesn't have to do cylinder deactivation in their V8's I will be happier than if they legalized weed.

Say what you will about the Hemi, but they are an American staple that has been a good if not arguably great engine.

Decommissioning that was a big gut punch.
This is great news even if you never own one going forward.

Now if Mercedes brings back the DEF-free diesel E-class then I’ll run through the street naked.

Maybe they will make them where they don’t have the notorious”Hemi Tick” and self destruct in under 200k miles.

In a related note, last year GM announced they are designing the next generation of V8s for trucks and SUVs.

btw-The current Hemi is not really a Hemi as it has quench pads. Good for marketing though.
