I just did this small write up after looking at who we got coming for next year and the new faces that we are acquiring.

DL- Good(A)-Blend of experience and some new faces in the DE spot.

LB's - Average.I hope Ryan Baker and Minter make some impact.I think the LB corps will be the weakest link but will still be average.

CB's- Excited about this group with the new coach and the talent.

Safeties- Feel good about them too

I thing we can expect a good Secondary play next year.

Offense

Line- other than Black and the Right side of the line,i think we are gonna get some newbies. So i would expect a lowering in the performance of this group.

TE-Awesome as always with RD returning and with no injuries

WR's can i say sick,i expect TT to come to his full potential and with the possible addition of RR we should be sick in this position

Slot Trindon and RS should be good to go.

RB's Chuck the Truck,K-Dub,Ridley,Crazy Legs should give us some real advantage, with Dominique paving the way for these guys.

JJ and JL- Hopefully JJ continues down the same path of growth.

I am excited about this team.I think we can go 12-2 this season with the 2 losses from UF.

Before we jump in to any conclusions on the Defense, don't forget we have a new Defensive coaches and they are still untested as far as LSU coaches goes. I am not a big fan of Mustang Packages.. Bump & run...

I know Harry Coleman is good. Somebody should teach him to STFU and play solid ball

I think Coop and Chief will certainly tone down the trash talking and non-sense. Our secondary will be lethal next year.

You missed one, our special teams (especially the PK) is a big ?? right now. Colt Davis was very, very good especially at kicks past 40. I hope one of our 30 kickers on the team can make up for this loss.

Fortunately, AU and Arky should be down. Unfortunately, Ole Miss and Bama are up. Hopefully, Bama suffers tremendously from loss of exp at QB. Remember also that while JJ has all the tools, he is far from an experienced QB. I gaurantee he will have at least 1-2 WTF games. 2 loss season is possible but 4 loss season is just as likely. It will be fun watching some of these young ones contribute early.

I am most excited about a very talented defensive coaching staff. That by itself should put us back on the map.

Good assessment I agree with all execept these:

-QB play will be inconsistent at times. Not necessarily bad, but there will be some bad moments to go along with the good, but most of the time just average QB play.
-CB play will also be inconsistent and not up to the level of previous years (not counting last year) and sometimes downright bad.
-Right side of the O-line other than Barksdale may have some growing pains.

I don't expect 12-2, more like 9-3 regular season with a bowl win. You guys place too high expectations on this team and when it fails to reach those, you go ballistic. Better to be cautious.

I say our O-line will need to prove something. We underachieved this year.

colt david will be hard to replace, hopefully we don't have a discussion about kickers next year...that will be bad.

big herm will be missed huge. third and one will not be automatic anymore. and for all you DB's, i did not say the o line will be a weakness.

defense will be much improved.

and we now have two qb's with starting experience albeit not a whole lot.

You can guarantee it huh.......

Please, unlike 08, I expect LSU to get better as the weeks progress like all other teams did under Miles.......By week 5 I expect JJ to be ready to tussle with Tebow and the Gators......

I think it's a fair assessment. The Gators are the only team on the schedule that has more talent than LSU does IMO.

Don't automatically assume a win in Athens.

Much tamer rhetoric from the Georgia faithful than in years past.

Our schedule is very tough so I'm not chalking up any wins as givens. Georgia, at bama, at ole miss, florida, arkansas, at washington, etc.

Finding a center replacement is very important. We either move Hitt to center or a guy like Lonergan progresses or T-Bob comes back from injury. Still some work to do to sure up the center and left guard positions. Getting Black back is the most important thing for this team.

Receivers should be very good, running backs will be very good. I hope the progression for JJ continues as he has looked increasingly better and more comfortable as the season progressed. He has great awareness out there.

Worried about our front seven. I'm happy Alem is back and I think that Nevis will actually be an upgrade because our DT's last year didn't perform as well as expected. Replacing Tyson will be tough as nobody has much experience behind him. Some young guys are going to have to step up and contribute early if we want to have good line play. I think that Chavis will make our linebackers better, which shouldn't be tough to do because they simply didn't play well last year. I expect some changes out there and I hope it's open season at the safety and linebacker positions. I like the two-deep at corner and I think someone like Jai could move to safety and we would benefit from the change as a team.

It's going to be a fun offseason boys.

Everyone keeps mentioning LBs, a traditional weak spot for LSU. I for one actually look for Perry Riley to shine in the middle; I like the way that kid plays.

Too early to post. We need to see the spring practices and game first.
