Golf elbow remedies?

Besides the don’t play, are they anything g that helps? Cortisone shot etc?

Cortisone shots do work but you need to limit how many of them you get. Over time they will work less and less and will do more damage in the long run. You could also look into a PRP injection which is better for you than the cortisone.

Ice and rest is best. Def wear a brace when doing anything that aggravate it. Ice multiple times a day 15/20 mins at time. Also do the fingers and rubber bands stretch.

I had a bad case last fall. I had to stop swinging clubs for a few weeks, take anti inflammatory medicine, and used icy hot/ ice. I also got a brace I wore when I started back playing. I used the brace the first several rounds and as my elbow felt better, I put it in my bag and it’s been there ever since.
Every now and again, when I feel elbow is starting to flare up, I’ll back off, take some ibuprofen, and hit it with icy hot and it’s been good every since.

Look up eccentric or isometric exercises for golfers elbow. You want to use frequent, controlled, light to moderate load through the tendon for it to heal. Dr Keith Baar’s podcast with Tim Ferriss was a pretty good listen

Do lots of dead hangs, a few times every day. The classic RICE protocol has really been debunked over the last couple years and immobilization is arguably the worst thing you can do when looking at long term functionality.

I have to get a cortisone shot once a year. Hurts like a mofo, but I will be pain free for most of the year.
I have started wearing a tennis elbow strap on my forearm and it really seems to keep tension off the tendon. Just remember to wear it with the pad on the inside of your forearm.

We have a PT specialist in Waco that treats golfer's and tennis elbows. Main thing she uses is an ultra sound machine on the elbow. I bought one and it helps. Fred Couples even comes to Waco for his PT (mainly his back), but not with my PT. It takes about 5 - 6 weeks of PT to make it good again. Be patient. You need to determine whether it is tennis elbow or golfer's elbow. The key difference between tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) and golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis) lies in the location of pain: tennis elbow causes pain on the outside of the elbow, while golfer's elbow causes pain on the inside. This helps the treatment. I would not recommend shots. It masks the pain, but the pain will return in 6 - 8 weeks.
