Looking to clean out my pool deck drains. Installed 2012. Never been cleaned out officially and I’m sure full of roof shingle and debris. Any recommendations? Walker , LA

There’s no cover. It’s all integrated. I’ve seen videos on cutting off a section of the top to allow access to spray it and then reinstalling an aftermarket top. Trying to avoid that route. I’ve also seen a pressure washer attachment to be able to fish into the drain and it back sprays as you pull it out. Was thinking someone local might have that capability or similar

Mine look just like that but luckily the top is actually a cap/cover that snaps into place. I have no idea what you should do for that.

Looks like we need to make some access panels in there and possible use a "drain snake"

I used to have that same drain. I would use a pressure washer and start near the exit/discharge of the drain and spray in each slit while working my way back. It was a pain and took a while but it worked. After cleaning it, I would try and keep it clean. I have since replaced my pool deck and now have a serviceable drain.

There are some other youtube videos about cutting the top off but I always thought that was opening a can worms.

Mine snap into place too as others pointed out. Makes for very easy clean out with a hose and don’t even need to fire up the pressure washer.

Those look very narrow. I bet you see a lot of water runs over and past it when it’s raining or kids are splashing around in the pool.

If anyone is building a pool soon and reading this, I’d highly recommend drains that are 2-3x wider.
