RIP John Feinstein.

Season on the Brink was probably the first sports book that I loved. He was one of the few in the sports media intellectual class that didn't seem like a dickhead.

I really liked A Good Walk Spoiled - back in my golfing years...

I should probably read Hard Courts at some point.

This is a bummer, used to watch him on that sports reporters show with Dick Schapp.

He used to go at it on radio with the white guy on PTI. He used to call Feinstein "Junior".

Well always have Michael Changs mother reaching into his shorts and checking how sweaty his underwear is

Knowing what we know now about "journalism", how much of that book about Bobby Knight do you think was a hatchet job?

Nobody had to fake Bobby Knight being an a-hole.

I honestly thought he was older. RIP.
I always thought he was fair and not a hack like that douche Lupica.

Bobby Knight brought it on himself.

Jesus Christ.

Color me skeptical. Sure, Bobby was abrasive and not exactly a graduate of charm school. It also wasn't a secret which side of the political spectrum Bobby fell. That makes him a very convenient target.

I've got that book. Need to go back and read it.

I've heard his name so long I thought he was older than 69. RIP.

I prefer to reference Pat Forde whenever someone speaks of terrible sports journalism.

Were you alive while he was coaching? He was an a-hole on a daily basis. Everyone outside the state of Indiana knew this.

We need more Coach Knights these days.

My suggestion is for you to read Season on the Brink, and report back if you personally think it was a hatchet job.
It’s been years since I’ve read it, but my impression was that it was an unflinching account of Bobby Knight. He was far from perfect, and a huge arse at times, but he had a vision, purpose, and a got results.
