Rock n Roll HOF spinoff

I’m a huge music guy but haven’t paid too much attention to the RnR HOF except for the nominees. I don’t really understand the process but can someone explain how these bands aren’t even nominated but bands like Motörhead, Chubby Checker, And Black Crowes are


Iron Maidon
Slayer
Korn
Tool
Linken Park
Weezer
Alice In Chains
Pumpkins

All of these are still going strong and headlining festivals and had a massive impact on music.

How in gods name is Motörhead ahead of Slayer and Maiden??

Someone explain this to me like I’m 5. Rage, Green Day, Foo Fighters, NIN are all in and I just don’t see how those are so separated from the above mentioned bands??
