Ospreys? Why are Marines still carrying M-16s? Hasn't everyone transitioned to M4s?

M16 is better than the M4 for longer range shots. A bigger caliber would be better still.

These deployments serve more than one purpose. In addition to securing the border, they are great exercises for other possible situations and needs. These aren't drills!

Most non combat MOS, support MOS, carries M16A4. Pilots, Aircrew and Infantry use M4s. Staff NCOs and Officers primary weapon is M9 or M1911. Ospreys are at Pendleton and Mirimar as well as skids (UH1Y & AH1Z) at Pendleton for MAGTAF/utility aircraft. Jets are at Mirimar and Yuma. This is speaking about 3rd MAW in the immediate area and not what we have at other bases and across the country.
