Why don’t we hear much about alcohol and the effect on the heart?

Sure, if you choose to go search for it you will find it. But everyone knows because it’s pounded in their head the effect on smoking and cardiovascular issues. There is really no PSA for that of alcohol and the heart
I am not drinking from December thru March, and my resting heart rate has gone from 55 to 48
My hrv has improved without changing anything else. It’s nuts. We hear about liver and such, but man it’s gotta be a massive factor for all the cardio issues people have in this country
And I’m far from a heavy drinker like most people here

Because not everyone is the same. Not everyone is impacted the same. There are raging alcoholics who smoke two packs a day who live to be 90 while marathon runners croak at 45. You are only as good as your genetic predisposition.

That’s a horrible take
Genetically, everyone has a ceiling yes
But if your genetic ceiling is 75 and you drink like a fish you aren’t going to reach it

It’s not. I’ve spoken to multiple MD’s and specialists about this very topic because of my personal experiences and history. Not going to bore you with it but almost every single one told me verbatim proper diet and exercise is great and to keep doing it but it will NOT outpace bad genetics concerning your organs. I asked why? Was told you are only as good or ‘strong’ as your Organs. Some people are born with better hearts, liver, kidneys, etc than others. One might have a strong heart and weak kidneys or vice versa. Because of this some people can abuse certain things like alcohol, sugar, tobacco, etc far far longer than others. We are all different. Simply because drinking impacts your heart doesn’t make that true for me or anyone else. There is no one size fits all because we are all different. It’s how some can smoke 4 packs of cigarettes a day and live to 85 and some don’t make it to 60.

Genetic predisposition is dumb? It doesn’t exist? We all have the same organs?

Dude seriously
If your organs are genetically predisposed to being either great or poor, do you not understand how abusing them still worsens them?
And how long would the 60 year old have lived if they did?
Do you really not comprehend this?

Think about what you just typed. Nowhere have I said abuse can’t ‘worsen’ them. I said the opposite. We all have different tolerances and lifespans due to genetic predisposition. You might smoke 6 packs a day and live to 50. I might smoke 6 packs a day and live to 70. We both ‘shortened’ our lifespan but my organs were simply better than yours so I lasted longer. That’s all I have said and it’s a fact. I can give you a real world example if you would like one?

In direct response to him saying alcohol affects your life span. That’s that’s, you know, exactly what you said

It’s irrelevant because we are all different you imbecile. What if I bought a turbo Porsche and you have a Toyota Camry and I die in a wreck going 45 mph but you survive in the exact same wreck under exact same conditions? What does that tell us?

This thread is shocking. You seem to be a relatively smart dude. A little incely, but not stupid. This changes that as there is absolutely no way anyone with a modicum of intelligence could argue what you are arguing.

What if I bought a turbo Porsche
One you change the oil on regularly and one you never change the oil on
How do you think they will perform?

Alcohol may or may not impact your lifespan. We are all different. Why? Because we are all different and there are no absolutes when it comes to metabolic or cardiovascular health. What is my source for this? Literally every MD I have talked to and unfortunately it’s been many. Beat it and go sit in the corner.
