Going to be in Natchitoches this weekend for work. Kind of burnt out on the Momma's scene and was looking for somewhere else I could go grab a beer and some dinner Saturday night. Any recs?

Haven't been up there in about 8 years. When I went to school there, I would go to Mariner's, The Landing, and Lasyone's. There was also a sports bar type restaurant on Front St. but I can't remember the name.

Walk right down front street and on opposite ends you will find Ducournau or The Landing. Both are pretty decent.
Ducournau
The Landing
Also, located on Sibley Lake is The Mariner. LINK
The bar portion of The Mariner is called The Cove. Nice place to enjoy a drink and relax. The Mariner has a nicer menu, but The Cove has a menu of it's own as well as The Mariner full menu. The Cove menu is fried foods, burgers...stuff like that.

You're probably thinking about The Pub. It pretty much sucks.

Thanks for the input! I enjoyed The Landing the last time I ate there but I was looking for something a little more casual as I'll be dining "by my lonesome." The Mariner looks like it might hold some promise...going to have to give it a shot.

Yeah, go into the seperate part of Mariner called The Cove. The main restaurant part is a little nicer, but The Cove seems to be what you're looking for. Really casual and laid back.

Would jeans and a polo work?

Absolutely.
As a matter of fact, sit at the bar and tell the bartenders that Stew sent you and they will take care of you. Adam or Andy will be their names.

Don't do it man. Sounds like some cloke and dagger stuff meaning take me in the back and rape me.

No secret here, but you should never go to Natchitoches without stopping by Lasyone's for meat pies and beer.
While you're at it, have them ship me a dozen.

True...their other food is pretty good too. Nice place to stop in for lunch.

Maybe I just caught them on a bad day but the one time I ate there for lunch I didn't enjoy anything I ordered (meat pies or sides).

May have been a bad day, or maybe it has gone downhill since I was there 20 years ago.

Just a bad attempt at humor Stew. Nothing personal.

It's been about 20 something years for me too..

I second this. The bar is cool and there are tables in the courtyard between the restaurant and the bar. Nice restaurant, but I've seen casual dress there. It's a college town, without a ton of dining options. They might let you eat in the bar. Not sure about that, though.
I get the meatpies from Lasyone's frequently to keep in the freezer and cook at home. Taste the same as they always did...good. Maybe you're just not a meatpie person.

I'm going to have to make it to the Christmas Lights Festival this year.
My daughter is 5 and I'm sure she would love it.
And meat pies...mmmm

If you can't make the official party, you can go up another weekend for the lights and another fireworks show, without the big crowd, but make your reservations early, regardless of when you go, if you intend to stay in the area.

Went to school in Natchitoches some 8-14 years ago. The Mariner is good. I liked Almost Home on Sundays. Mr Johnny's place, I think it's called Antoon's on the River is good. I liked Trailboss too. Is Tin House still there?
