Watched A Quiet Place: Day One last night-- terrible

I went in with zero knowledge but just wanted to see how they portrayed them more.
1 - Their hearing capabilities were all over the place. Sometimes they could hear a book shuffle from a quarter mile away.
2 - It made no sense that they weren't distracted by the own noise they make. Ostensibly these things would be running in circles responding to the noises they all make themselves across Manhattan.
3 - The scene where the military flew overhead and said hey everyone go to this spot, then everyone joined together in one mass slow shuffle quietly. The frick? Clearly they had figured out they were attracted to noise as no one was talking, but they thought it made sense to walk in one massive group across a field of debris?
4 - If the idiots on the ground figured out they were drawn to noise, surely the military would have figured out that all you need to do is drop a boombox in an open area and have a couple C-130 gunships eradicate the entire problem.
5 - It made no sense that they didn't have at least the slightest sense of smell or were otherwise incapable of detecting their prey when they were five feet away.
6 - So would every island nation be completely fine? Australia, all of Indonesia, Hawaii, Japan. England? I mean depending on where they landed most of the world should be completely fine, right? Even Martha's Vineyard would be invincible.

Your way overthinking this and most of this can easily be answered for by basic logic

The rest of your response with the easy answers must have gotten cut off. I'm interested to hear your takes though.

I will in a bit. Out and about

I can’t believe you didn’t mention the magic cat who nearly was the main character or the insanely low stakes of the movie in the context of the universe

It was DEI, that's all you need to know

I watched it the other day also. Terrible. The funny thing was the cat was listed as a character, by name, when you paused the show. It showed the people on the screen and the cat was listed.

I hope it got its SAG card as a main character

Disagree. The world was immediately fricked and they couldn't do anything about it so all they could do was be there for each other even though they were strangers. It makes sense in the context of the universe since the first movie is just a solo family living in the fricked world.

The main character is already going to die from the first scene due to illness, the goal is to get a slice of pizza and in the course of that they reveal zero new or interesting information about the event that wasn’t revealed in the original movie or its sequel.
I did enjoy the chemistry between the main two leads and the emotional beats hit pretty well, I think I would’ve liked it as a movie outside of this universe brand that was clearly to keep the cash flowing and people thinking about the franchise while Kransinski figures out how to make the universe interesting without it getting dumb as more is revealed
Feels very much like they spliced a spec script into the universe and made sure it was very tidy and wouldn’t effect anything else in the universe they would have to worry about later if it bombed
Like the pizza shop / jazz club scene towards the end I think works and is emotionally impactful, but then you see the cat go John wick and swim across a channel unscathed in the final act and it cheapens it a bit

The cat might have had more screen time than anyone else actually

Yeah the more I think about it the dumber it all is. Again any island anywhere in the world would be completely unscathed. Hell if they landed in New York then the aliens wouldn't even make it across the Mississippi River.
I thought the original movie was dumb in retrospect, never watched the sequel, and this was even sillier.

They took a one-off and tried to capitalize, how unique.
The movie offers nothing, see the first....
Don't double-dip on this pathetic rehash of a money grab.

The pizza obviously stands for more. The only reason she went on the trip was the promise of pizza. She knew it was already over for her anyway and she wanted to go "home".
I agree the movie wasn't a big grand scheme step forward. It did show the aliens eating, which was new and may or may not be something.

I wouldn't go that far. There's no way to know the world was fricked. In fact, there's no reason the world should be fricked. There should be plenty of safe havens based on what we saw of the aliens. I mean there was a group of people in a fricking boat 100 yards off the pier that were invincible. The guy jumped 20 feet into the water and the aliens said ah dang, he got away.

You're talking about the entire movie. When they meet each other they don't know anything about the aliens and water. All they know is some aliens are fricking everything up when they hear some noises, which would be pretty disheartening.
And when I say they couldn't do anything about it, I mean it's not ID4 and they're launching a counter offensive to beat the aliens back. Even for the people at the end on the boat, they're alive but life as they know it is pretty fricked.

The Quiet Place premise is fundamentally retarded if you think about it. You just kinda have to ignore that and enjoy the thrills.
