New deer hunter question, is it best to hunt dry ridge bordering swamp with this cold

That is coming? I am planning to give it a shot this week and the land is mostly swampy with some dry ridges that are higher. I can hunt either one but obviously the higher and drier land is easier to get around. With the cold will that drive them out of the swampy areas? Most of land is swamp and about 40ish acres are dry on outskirts of it. Have some clearings that I saw good deer sign yesterday when I scouted it out. Lots of fresh deer shite and lot of deer footprints too in the spots I scoped out. Public land for what it’s worth. Thx in advance for any pointers, looking to get my first deer

Sounds like you’ve found a feeding area. Hunt right before the cold hits and hunt the food source. Get downwind of it.
In the South, temps in the teens will sometimes shut down movement. The deer will lay up out of the wind to conserve energy.

I hunt public 95% of the time. I love hunting right next to flooded timber or swamps. Sometimes I’ll set up in the water if that gives me a cleaner shooting lane to a feeding area. If you can find the food source, those deer will hit it every day no matter the temperature.
ETA - hunt the wind like 257WBY said.

If you happen to have a clearcut on the property that stays dry, THAT would be the area to be in.
In the Southeast bucks love to sit on the south facing sides of clearcuts under extreme cold conditions.
Seen it too many times to discount

Sounds like you should hunt where you’ve found that sign.

Was coming here to say this. A south facing hillside is shielded from north (cold) winds and will get more sun to stay warmer. Get between that and some food.

I find the opposite. The deer on our property bordering the Atchafalaya Basin will be all over the place up and feeding with the cold weather. The most deer I have ever seen and killed good bucks was with sleet or ice and afternoon temps in the 20's. I plan to sit in the stand all day on Monday and Tuesday.

Make plenty of time to hunt after this arctic blast passes through. Mr. deer will be hungry and on the feed once it starts warming up again.
