.25 acre pond

Would this size be adequate enough to stock with Bream? I am looking at a property that has a small pond, but I am not sure of the depth. What would be an ideal depth? Just wondering if it can support fish before I get too excited.

I've got a small pond, about 1/3 - 1/2 acre. About 8' deep at the deepest - holds a ton of fish and brings in a lot of wildlife. Get an aerator and give it a shot.

You can always put a fish feeder on it to help support the bluegill

I have 1/3 acre. Average depth is probably 4 ft. Deep spots are 6’.
Stocked with 750 bream 1000 minnows initially and 50 bass about 8 months later.
Fish are doing great. No aerator needed.

I would think so.

Being only .25 acres, I would pump it dry.
A: Fresh start in case there are trash fish in it.
B: You could get some one to dig it out if you wanted it to be deeper.

I'd want a 10' hole somewhere, but 6-8' should be fine.

How is the pond fed? Creek or spring? Or just runoff?
The short answer is yes, bluegill can live in a quarter acre pond. But if it dries up every time there's a drought, or overflows every time it rains, it might not be worth stocking. How many trees are growing on the dam? What's the weed situation? Too many variables for anyone to give an informed opinion.
