I know the ideal time to travel to Banff/Lake Louise is July-August but I have vacation time in October and we are kicking around going in the fall. What’s it like this time of year for sightseeing, hiking, going to the lakes etc?

Actually, October is probably a good time to go. July and August are insanely crowded.

We’ve been there twice, but in November. At least then the ski resorts were open. But it was a magical time so you’d have a great time in October in my book.

I’ve been there twice as well, once in April and once in August.

Just hold your nose and jump in October, it’ll be beautiful.

They sell warm clothes there if you screw up and underpack.
