I remember back in the days my Papere had an old wooden shell bucket. It was only about 12 inches tall. I tried finding them on the worldwide web and they were selling for around 100 bucks. I saw on facebook recently a guy in Larose was making them and selling them for 250. I decided to try and build one myself. Drew it up in CAD and got to work. Cost about 40 dollars to build.
I have the cover almost finished. I want to wrap it with a leather strap and have a leather strap handle.
Damn pics won't load

There's a pitre down in golden meadow I got one from for the wife.
Good looking bucket there.
If you have a jointer and are slightly decent at math, you can tighten those gaps up a lot. Only matters if that bucket is gonna get wet a lot.

I did this with a table saw. Definitely will get better with my next one. I used cedar boards that weren't uniform size wise so my angles all didn't match up. Already have requests from my dad and brother and want to make one for my son. Gonna tighten it up a good bit.

A banding tool would probably get it tighter

Depending on if it's an older US made Saw or just a newer saw, you can get outstanding jointery just by upgrading to a fine tooth blade and calibrating the saw.
Any time I see any kind of cooper work I'm impressed.

How heavy is that thing?

I didn't weight it but it's not that heavy. I don't have 10 boxes of shells in it yet
