Replacing Kitchen sink. Existing sink sits atop granite counter but many of the ones I'm looking at are now recessed. Ive read mixed reviews from people saying that the recessed sinks leak and that they are a total pain. Any experiences would be appreciated.

there is nothing an under mount offers vs drop in except a higher price and more difficult installation. If you are not changing your counters and you already have a drop in then get another drop in

My parents had a countertop sink over granite, but they switched to a deeper under mount last Christmas. I think they hired a guy from Lafayette to install it, and it hasn’t leaked. They’ve been 100% pleased with it. An added bonus is more counter space because you lose the lip from the countertop sink.

If you do undermount, I would recommend you also use the Never Fall Sink Brackets.

Wrong.

An under mount sink is the way to go because depending on what you have on the counters around the sink.... you can wipe off the counters and send any debris into the sink.

Cutting granite is really expensive......but no other choice.
I just put my new large / one-bay SS sink in. It is a top-mount and installation went pretty easy once I paid to have the granite cut.
We love it!

not if he’s got a solid surface counter and replacing a drop in. He will have to get his counter cut and the edges finished to do an undermount. And I scrape shite off the counter into my drop in all the time. There’s no real advantage to the undermount except aesthetics

They look much better than an over the counter sink. They don't leak. Countertop people installed mine. It'll hold like 450 lbs. Not going anywhere.

We went with the big single basin sink dark stainless. Makes washing big pots, pans, and baking sheets, etc much easier.

that's what we also went with during our recent kitchen update.

36" I believe and it's awesome but we rarely use all the extras it came with except the bottom wire rack.

this. You change the nasty seam from on top of the counter to under it. I like my filth to be outta view.

Just here to complain about my 60/40 undermount sink

Why do builders even put this crap in when dishwashers now exist?

Not sure I can replace with a single basin without replacing the island ctop

Just replaced my drop in 2 bay with and single bay. I love it, much easier to wash large pots.
