So if someone came to South Louisiana and wanted to bring back a gift basket of our food/groceries, I could easily make one.

*community coffee
*jack millers bbq sauce
*slap ya momma
*crystal hot sauce
Etc

I am visiting Central Georgia for Xmas. Is there anything regional that I could bring back that is sold somewhat exclusively in this part of the world?

Around Macon?

Some of the things I first thought of, you can get somewhere in Louisiana like peaches when in season and peach products like jams etc.

I think our pan sausage (or breakfast sausage, whatever you call it) is as good as you can get anywhere.

If you go near Perry, there is a Striplings's store. They make as good a sausage as you can buy imo. Avoid the HOT unless you really like it hot.

Lane's Packaging has every kind of peach product you can imagine and a lot of other Georgia food products too. It's not far from Perry off the interstate a few miles.

Pecans and pecan products are a Georgia thing but Louisiana has that too like peaches.

Will keep thinking.

Go to Publix. They have a local section end cap in every store that has local products. I always see tons of jams and jellies.

I’ll be in the Oglethorpe/Montezuma area but we will be spending time in Warner-Robbins and Perry.

One of my favorite things to bring back is a local vinegar based bbq sauce but it is house made and I am afraid to store it for months.

You've probably been to Striplings and Lanes then. If not check it out. They have lots of sauces and jams. Striplings sausage is outstanding.

Next time you visit in the fall, look for a Hardy Farms boiled peanut stand. They are all over that area.

I'm sure you've been to the Mennonite restaurant, Yoder House... I think they sell some products there in addition to being a restaurant.

Some of these are more North Georgia/Appalachia type products but you can probably find some of these in Central Georgia

Cornmeal or grits from a local mill, various pickles (chow chow, peach, squash, green tomato, etc), sorghum syrup, apple butter or peach butter, local bbq sauces, cheese straws from Southern Straws

I agree with the post about Georgia having some of these best breakfast sausages. You can also pick up some local country ham

Vidalia onions obviously aren't in season but you can probably find pickles and various dressings and sauces

For the mustard/vinegar BBQ sauces common to middle Georgia and east Alabama, try 13th Street BBQ or Chicken Comer's in Columbus/Phoenix City. You can order it on-line and you may can find it in some grocery stores -- I've seen both of these in the Walmart in Auburn. Foy's is also good and very similar to their sauces. These sauces come in hot and mild versions. I prefer the hot, but both are good.

If you are in Columbus/Phoenix City, 13th Street is worth a stop, especially for the Pork Chop sandwich. Chicken Comer's is good too.
