& pick 6s. 20% of TDs scored on LSU. Good QB?

Ya well the fact that Shepard is lightning helps the fact he isn't a drop back passer. It's really hard to defend mobile qbs.
Agreed, but at a certain point you are going to need a QB that can complete a pass. Shep doesn't have that JJ does. Shep will make an impact if he plays, but it won't be with his arm.

Pryor is a horid passer but he is still tough to prepare for.
and Boeckman(who is terrible) came off the bench in a passing situation for the Buckeyes against UT.

Redshirt Garrett and Hatch is the 3rd string?
Hatch is a worse version of Shep. There is nothing Hatch can do that Shep can't do and better.
Garrett might able to bring a passing presence, but we've seen what Hatch can do(Run for a 3 yard gain) and what he can't do(Complete anything that isn't straight down the field or a screen).
If JJ goes down we going to need Lee or Garrett to step in and split time.

if it were only that simple.. 2 starts, 2 good halves 2 bad halves...
Not really you can't count the second half against Ga. Tech because Miles clearly wasn't even trying to execute a gameplan beyond THROW BOMBS!!!!!!!
Who do you think could start besides JJ?

Hey council-you forgot the MVP of the bowl game. Game was out of reach @ HALF. He was 11/12 when it was a game (AKA the first half). JL couldn't do that against TULANE HAHAAHAHAHA. Please stop the unproven crap.....

once again, 2 starts,,, 2 good halves 2 bad halves.

Once again he is the starting qb for the LSU tigers. Maybe if you say it more it will sink in.

quote:It was the coaches. He had a 4-2 record in SEC starts, beat Bama in Tiger Stadium for the first time in forever with a 4 TD/0 INT performance and won 4 straight SEC games (first since Hodson, if not Jones, to do that).
Booty's ALL SEC was the biggest joke of all time. I'd have to do some research, but either it was the media or the coaches voted him that.
quote:Yes, and we might have if Rohan hadn't been hurt in 2000. But this isn't about how great Rohan was. This is about Booty.
Didn't we win the SEC title & a BCS bowl the first year Rohan got the sp?
quote:You think Saban was benching Rohan because of some bullshite with Evangel?
When Saban finally said to heck with the politics of Evangel, and played Rohan in the PEACH BOWL, (ha a sign?) we set records in the passing game.
Rohan was injured all season. Florida aggravated it and he should have been done for the season. He came back in the Peach because we were struggling and Brad Smalling had given up a bajillion sacks of Booty. So they put Brandon Winey back in to protect the QB, so they could put Rohan back in (still somewhat gimpy). With protection from the OT and Rohan at QB, we kicked arse. And that still has nothing to do with whether or not Booty was "garbage."
Objectively speaking, there is an absurd absence of evidence to support such a ridiculous claim. He was an All-SEC QB with a 120+ passer rating (which is neither great nor "garbage") who won a bunch of games for us in 2000 when he finally had a chance to play for a coach with some success. He was nowhere near what Rohan was, which is why he left early and was drafted into the pros. But I guess all "garbage" QBs get drafted, right?

no pal,,, you got it mixed up... stay on track. you said he is "proven" i said (twice)
bash JL, call me names, whatever makes you fell better about yourself, but that's the facts.
If those 2 games is all you need to see to believe JJ is then undisputed MAN..fine, however its not for me.

There's a reason LSU wanted nothing to do with John David. And don't say JaMarcus was the sole reason. Please. OH WAIT I FORGOT. HAHA the famous UAB game was that year. That is the worst QB performance of any LSU QB. Remind me again who came in and won the Tenn. game limping down the field? You're right it's not about Rohan. But the analogy is the same between Lee & Jefferson.

Booty was NOT a good QB at LSU. He just wasnt. All-SEC honors be damned. It was night and day when Rohan came in for Booty.

I dont think JJ played poorly the 2nd half of GT. He even had a deep TD called back for penalty, and committed no INTs most importantly.
Lee only had about 2 good halves (AU and Troy) the whole season.
I know what you are saying about JJ not having proved himself, but I feel pretty confident in what I saw. At the very least, Lee's 10 games were enough for me. Lee would have to improve just to get to where JJ already is.

at first view, i thought "where's JL?"

I meant proven in the fact that he has won the job. Maybe not proven in reference to a SEC tenure, but definitely in comparison to Lee. It's not even close.
Posted on 1/12/09 at 3:35 pm to djack13
i tell you what then,,, if what JJ has done so far is all it takes to win the QB job at LSU, then unless he improves, it sure as hell wont be hard to loose it... whether its to JL, AH, RS, or CG.

Council legit question. How does winning the MVP of the bowl, gaining the confidence of the team, not committing turnovers in either starts, & looking sharp in his reads (pass against Ark to Lafell), not give him the nod? He has done all you can ask of a freshman & more. Do you not agree?
You score 69 points in two games. That should always be enough IMO. And none for the other team.

Thats cause the team actually thought they could win and was actually playing. I think the team had given up on JL IMO.
