LE is great, and the later games, especially ME3, are vastly better with mods. Do it. Do it now.

I don't know if there's better value out there from a gaming standpoint than all three Mass Effect games for $5

The framerate improvements over the console release is massive. The new HD textures in ME1 look great, and I think ME2 can look photo realistic at times.

A few years back there was a small period (maybe a Christmas?) where all three were free.

Its available for EA play, so i just downloaded it. I may not play it for a year, but i'll give it a shot at some point.

Great, now I have the urge to run through those GOATS yet again

Although, I don't usually do 1 again. It's too primitive mechanics-wise compared to 2 and 3. The story is still all-time though.

the Mako missions in ME1 kind of suck. Driving around on moons collecting some resource. But thats the only negative thing i have to say.

Give it a real try. ME1 was the only one that got significant QOL changes. And unless you have to get the best little Easter egg ending to a minor quest, don’t worry about doing every silly fetch quest.

Or be me and do it every time, because Conrad is adorable

Eta: There are also mods and save editors for ME1 that will let you skip any tedious missions you don’t feel like doing.

The graphics are pretty impressive.

Have been enjoying me1. Surprisingly doesn’t feel too dated.

Old school BioWare really was one of the best

ME1 wasn’t perfect, but it was really, really special. It kills me that they sacrificed in later games so much of what made the world unique to make it more CoD-esque. Which is a lot of why I tend to white night for it when people start talking about skipping it.

Yeah, pretty fun.

Didn’t Ashley Williams used to be black?

I guess my tv just had low brightness back in 2009

Definitely not, but her voice actress is, coincidentally

Don't you have to do all of the quests and upgrades to keep people alive to carry over to the next game or was that just from 2 to 3?

All squad loyalty missions and all ship upgrades to have a shot at keeping everyone alive during the suicide mission in ME2. No other game in the series has a hard filter like that, though different missions can obviously impact different things.

I still can't finish my replay of ME3. The ending is so bad, even with the patched ending. I platinumed ME1 and ME2 then played ME3 up until the very end and stopped.

Amazing, amazing games and ME3 has some of the best moments of the series but, man, the ending is so bad.

I don't get that either. ME1, outside of the exploring planets with the Mako, was amazing. It might even be my favorite of the series even though ME2 has the best gameplay and ME3 has, overall, the best scenes since it's the culmination of the trilogy.

For anyone curious, this is (roughly) my last mod list, though it's been a couple of years since my last playthrough, so no idea what might be broken. I also think a few of those mods weren't actually active (for example, I think I killed the one probe resource one in my last run), but they won't all fit on one screen if I move to the installed screen, and that wasn't worth the effort. The content mods for ME3 are primarily the purpose for posting:
