So I use ABP for YouTube videos because they made their ads so obnoxious, but I’m aware they are sort of at war with them. It’s hard to explain but for a while it will work perfectly as intended, then for a while it will make me watch like a brief few seconds and move to the end with a skip button, now it’s like it’s the old YouTube where a skip button usually but not always pops up but instead of near immediately 10-15 seconds in.

Is this a problem with the ad blocker I’m using and if so which should I get, or a side effect of YouTube blocking their service and them fixing it back and forth for all of them?

I don't use YouTube often, but I use FreeTube. I also used Brave before the app, and I can't ever remember seeing an ad while watching concert vids, etc.

A bit of both, but use Ublock Origin instead. ABP whitelists some ads I believe.

uBlock Origin for Chrome and Edge, Brave browser doesn't need anything; its built in already.

Glad you like it! There are a handful of websites where the anti tracking behavior won’t let you login (I think maybe my dental insurance, USPS and maybe another one,) so I have to revert to edge. Inconvenience at worst.

Seriously, these are my stats from a desktop build less than a year old:

308,543 Trackers & ads blocked
6.42GB Bandwidth saved
4.3hours Time saved

On mobile,
769k trackers and ads blocked
23.45 GB saved
10h Time saved.

No idea when the counter on mobile reset, but it's a max of a 2 year span. Especially when overseas, those GB saved are $$.

There ya go, lol. The last time I was in Athens someone took a dump in the tub because a girl was passed out with her face in the toilet, so that checks out.

ETA: meaning that being filmed while being drunk in a public place probably leads to similarly odd situations as I experienced in places like Athens.

Yeah that was taken at about 3 am while we waited for my sister to come bring us back to the hotel. If you cant tell from the picture we were all 3 absolutely fricking shut faced lol. I do love my pint sized puerto rican lady though. Having a 5'1 gf when youre 6'2 is

her sister is single btw

Lol thank you for you concern, seriously. I am actually 36 even if I look younger and we have been dating since I was a junior in highsxhool and she was a sophomore: She stood by me through 13 months in Afghanistan and 12 months in Iraq before I turned 21 then moved to UGA with me when I got out of the army and did her SCAD online. When I went to MIT for my masters she again moved to Boston with me and worked while I did that. Then we moved back to Savannah where I started my career and she got her masters from scad.

So yeah she’s very well vetted and we’ve been together more of the time we have been alive than we haven’t lol. Cheers mate

I’m sure many are asking why the hell aren’t you married? I’ll just say my career is a college professor and researcher with political linguistics being my main focus and I’m a very conservative guy. If you've got basic computer skills and like to tinker with stuff try setting up a whole home network ad blocker - pi hole.

I've got pi hole running on a re-purposed Dell Wyse 3040 thin client which has an Intel Atom CPU, 2 GB RAM and 8 GB storage.

It helps make the web tolerable.
