I got my 8yo son a Ruger American Gen 2 Ranch in 6.5 Grendel. First hunt with it Friday he laid down a nanny. With a suppressor on it it’s an awesome gun.

My only complaint is the 10 round mag it came with. We don’t need that capacity and it just gets in the way. Does anybody know where I can find 3 or 4 round that fits flush? I’ve looked but can’t find anything in a Grendel.

I have a few Elander 4 rd magazines for my wife's 6.5 grendel. They have been fine.

This seems to be one of the only negatives I’ve seen with the Grendel. A lot of the forums and video I’ve watched that mention Grendel mags acknowledge an issue. The mags I have for my AR Grendel won’t cycle if I put more than 5rds in them. I haven’t tried the Alexander Arms mags yet.

I’m looking at the Gen 2 Grendel for the kids in a couple years.

All of my 6.5 Grendel mags are less that impressive. That being said, my Howa has a 5 round plastic mag that is "decent"

I haven’t attempted to fully load a mag so not sure if ours has that issue. We are strictly deer hunting with it so there is no need to have more than a couple in the mag. Ruger not having a three round mag that sits flush seems crazy to me.

I have had zero issues with the 10 round mags from DuraMag.

I laid out a 175lb bucks at 200yds with my Grendel last weekend.

Had great results using the Barnes vortex tac tx bullets.

Not sure if it would work on the Gen 2, but on my first gen American ranch, I swapped out the magwell with a 7.62x39 magwell and mag. Isn't flush, but it's much more out of the way.

I just looked and the mags that Alexander Arms sales are E-lander. They have a 4rd mag on their website. They are proud of them so hopefully means they are very good.
