Laurence Vincent
Laurence Vincent Marino, 79, of Baton Rouge, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024. Born in Siculiana, Sicily, Italy, he was a beloved local restaurateur and co-owner of Gino's, a legendary Baton Rouge dining establishment. To know Laurence was to love him. His personality was unique and unforgettable. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had an impressive gun collection that he was very proud of. He also had a true passion for cooking. He was a great entertainer and enjoyed the PR aspect of Gino's. If you were ever fortunate enough to witness one of his late-night performances, consider yourself lucky. There will never be another experience like it. He had the art of storytelling down to a science, always keeping you on the edge of your seat. He was a self-proclaimed expert on most topics, earning the nicknames 'Doctor' and 'Chief' among those close to him. Laurence was at his happiest with a bottle of wine, good food and an audience. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Laurence is survived by his wife Karen Sanders Marino, daughter Leslie Marino Gugliuzza (Tony), sister Frances Marino Drago (Sam), brother Gino Marino (Karen), grandchildren Gracie and Brennon Pecoraro, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Vincent and Grace Scorsone "Mama" Marino. A memorial visitation for Laurence will be held Thursday, December 12, 2024, at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St. George Dr, Baton Rouge, LA 70809. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM, with Memorial Mass at 12:00 PM, followed by committal at St. George Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Louis Minsky, Dr. Tara Jarreal, Dr. Gerald Militello, the hospice staff, and the staff at The Crossing Hospice CARE for their loving care.

Were you at Bin post-services? Saw the whole family there yesterday. Feels like the services happened fast! Well I guess not seeing as it was November.
I’ll be at Gino’s tonight as well and definitely getting an order of Laurence bread to take home.
