Do you combo them or do one or the other? Throw in whey protein also for additional calories and protein or is this overkill

Assuming you mean creatine but I would put a scoop of creatine in your whey protein shake and get rid of the AA's.

If you drop the AA make dang sure you’re hitting your protein goals.

If he's going to use them he needs to use EAA's not BCAA's.
As for creatine id use the HCL version based on solubility alone. Also research coming out with other benefits of that specific version. If you don't believe the hype/research otherwise just use any brand of creapure.
