All that American white devil bullshite comes out of the Nation of Islam's hate teachings working its way down from the teachings of Wallace Fard Muhammad (or what ever his real name was) to Robert Elijah Poole (renamed Elijah Muhammad who taught and influened men like Malcolm X, Ali, and Farrakhan. They also have some wierd beliefs about The Mother Wheel (a highly technical UFO built in Japan that carry bombs that makes mountains).
One of the first books I read at LSU my freshman year was The Zebra Killings about a Black Muslim sect in SF in the early 70's by a group called the Death Angels.
Ali gets a pass for his beliefs b/c of his success as a boxer. Maybe since then he and other radical members of the Nation of Islam have changed their beliefs about race but the core of the Nation's teachings are still there today.

People act like Ali didn't face discrimination and racism during the '60s. He just randomly disliked whites for no reason, right.

Are you serious??? I think Foreman was better than TYSON as far as being a beast. BUT ALI would have CRUSHED Stephenson.

To be fair, us whiteys are pretty devilish.
Posted on 1/10/09 at 3:57 pm to dukke v
am I serious about what? I just said Foreman would have demolished Stephenson, but we know what an OLDER ALI did to Foreman. so yeah, I agree with you Foreman would have made Stephenson PISS IN HIS PANTS like he did Frazier.

I know you're not comparing black Muslims to the KKK.

So WHY make your earliar post?????????? I don't get into race and shite like that!! I do remember when BOXING did mean something though!!! ALI WAS GREAT!!! I don;t care how HE spun it!! If people were to stupid to not realize what he was saying, then thats them!!!

Those beliefs weren't uncommon among black people, I'd imagine, and there is a history of why those people felt that way. Some still do.
Clearly.

Are you telling me that there are no black coaches out there that are interested in becoming a head coach?
Absolutely not. I am saying it should not be considered racist just because a black candidate is not interviewed.
quote:
Are you saying there haven't been inequalities that exist between the dominant culture and minorities?
No I'm not saying that either. I'm saying that being mstreated or discriminated against is not something new, it is not isolated to one race, and should not be used as a crutch. By that I don't mean everyone uses it as a crutch.
quote:
People are terribly miseducated about MLK. He was so radical at that time, they killed him. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are alive and well today.
MLK was about to launch a major campaign that would have called for a massive redistribution of wealth in this country about the time he was killed. Anti-discrimination laws were just one part of what he wanted to accomplish.
I don't dispute that, but he was not about complaining about oppression, but was preaching self improvement.

so he spouts some bull shite at the end of his paragraph and you salute him brilliant, I just don't find it fair to attack someone about a time that none of us know anything about, didn't live in those times, don't know the hostilty people face in those times , so you just can't come right out and call someone a racist extremist without the whole picture.
I would say calling white men the devil is racist, extremist, no matter when you did it.

Apparently the guy who runs that site is a wannabe psychologist who was going to be tried for hate speech in Britain (i can't don't like that law though as a libertarian), and sought asylum in the US but was denied.

In the bigger scope of things...there's plenty of professional athletes besides Ali, some the greatest of their sport were POS in one area or another during their life. Many times the press or media in certain cities would protect them by keeping things out of the press b/c of what they did as an athlete.
It's still true today for athletes at all levels from professional down through high school and some lower than that...they may be one way on the field or court, but in real life they're a jackass or scum of the earth.

quote:my earlier post was in reference of you condoning someone who was basically sayin Ali was a racist for callin the white man the devil and all that without knowing the full details, I issued an apology, I don't like to get into the race thing myself, but you can't just come right out and call the man a racist without knowing what he was attempting to do back then.
So why make your earliar post?????

Have you ever seen that HBO special about the first fight with Frazier at MSG? I always say if I had been alive then and aware of the situation, I would have cared more about Frazier winning that fight than any other sports outcome I have ever cared about.

They have had some extreme beliefs but I don't see them as they poweful. For years, the Klan could kill and bomb with no repercussions. I don't see the NOI as a group that terrorizes folk.

Frazier did when that first fight, as a matter of fact, broke Ali's jaw.
