LSU=Hornets needs to live the life of a black man for a year in 1960's Louisiana and check bath with us.

Would his opinion of Ali change?

nope.
i hate anyone who doesn't want to stand up for this country.
if you want the freedoms this country offers, you should be willing to fight for it when asked upon.

get back to me when you've been called ***ga, lowlife and every low word in the book, beaten half to death, killed, lynched, raped and god knows what else, and let me know if you still feel like serving the country.

Would it be OK if the head of the KKK said any black man who has sex with a white woman would be killed?

The KKK actually did kill black men for screwing white women, and, if caught in a consensual interracial relationship, many white women hollered "rape," which meant a long prison term or lynching for her black lover.

That was Ali's point blacks were not receiving the same freedoms this country was offering whites. So he felt like why should he fight for a country that will not treat him equally once he returned. His biggest fight would be to help blacks get equal rights here in this country. Taking a stand against eventhough it was unpopular is what many admired!

Didn't he refuse to enter the draft too?

Didn't he because of his religious beliefs. Most religions, including the most popular here, Catholicism, preach god bfore country. He also refused because he did not belief the country treated blacks as humans, which was true at that time.

You're entitled to your opinion.

It's a good thing I have no regard for your opinion.

when your country asks for your help, you give it

Says who?

Depends on the cause and the war. Vietnam was a bullshite arse unwinnable war.

Plenty of folk didn't have to face combat because of what type of privileged background they came from. Folk from low-income backgrounds people weren't as lucky.

quote:

hate people that enjoy the freedoms of america and are so quick to make sure they let people know they have those freedoms by demonstrations and other stupid shite like that, but aren't man enough to fight for those freedoms.

The Supreme Court later ruled in Ali's favor saying he should have been exempt from military service.

Do some research.

quote:

yep, i guess every black person in the country was terrorized.

Many were. For years, blacks didn't enjoy the same freedoms that white folk did,but they are supposed to help fight for a country that wouldn't let them eat at the same lunch counter as a white person?

bullshite

quote:

just really hate him, he could have been white and i'd hate him just as much.

You're full of hate because you're stupid. Ali ain't ever done shite to you and the Supreme Court of this country ruled in favor of his case.

And Bill Clinton wasn't the one who was privileged enough to get into the Texas Air National Guard knowing he would never see combat and then after being appointed POTUS declare war on a country that didn't attack us over a lie.

yeah well if everyone was like ALI, maybe your not sitting on your computer babbling shite back to me.
i don't really care what your thoughts are on the vietnam war, if your asked to fight, you fight. if you don't like it, get the frick out.

and i don't care what the supreme court said either, he's still a pussy to me and i will never have respect for him. i would spit in his face b/c that's what he did to this country when he said he's not fighting.

what makes him so special, he's a good boxer. so what.

their were plenty of good fathers out there that drop what they were doing in a second and went to war for us, while we sit here argueing on this computer.

there are thousands of great soldiers out there, that stand up for this country and for you and me. they deserve respect, they deserve the gratitude, not some piece of shite boxer.

if we lived in a differnt country, Ali probably would have been executed.
do you know how many countries force their citizens to join the army?
how would you like it if the gov't forced you to join the army regardless of any situation?
thank God you live in a free country, or thank ALI for whatever you think he has done for this country.

the "replacement" medal given to him after he bragged about chunking his original one in the Ohio River and letting him light the torch in Atlanta in 1996 was revolting.
