Context:

Nothing planned yet, just curious and would like to put something together in another year/two

We like to hike/sight see out doors stuff.

We will have a 2/3 year old by the time we go, so some potential kids and adult stuff together.

Thanks in advance for any and all help/suggestions.

The lumberjack shows are good. Kids will like them. There are plenty of places to hike and have picnics. The Kenai Peninsula has beautiful scenery.

Thanks for the input. I’ll take a gander at both of these suggestions.

LM Alaska is small so you can see it all in about 1/2 a day.

Fly into Anchorage. Hotel Captain Cook. Downtown for a day/night.

Head to Alyeska Resort in Girdwood. Ski and hang out for a few days. Book excursions through resort - heli lifts, CAT backcountry, dog sledding, snowmobiles, et alia.

Back to Anchorage and charter fish for halibut.

Depends on what you want to see and budget. Most people do Southcentral and visit the Kenai or Denali. But there are 5 regions and all are very different.

Ling cod is a lot more fun and the meat tastes better.

For a real blast find a guide that’ll take you fishing on the Kenai River for Chinook Salmon using plugs.

It’s a rush seeing them hammer it!

Just take a cruise there stay extra days somewhere such as Vancouver/Victoria or the Denali Park. The cruise features fun ports, whale watching, train rides and incredible scenery.

Several recommendations for Kenai on here. I guess I can second that. You see sea life and wildlife and the scenery is spectacular but the day we went the waves were so rough everyone got seasick.

We really enjoyed the glacier tours and whale watching. I also really enjoyed ziplining there, which isn't something I would normally do. The views from that high up are amazing.
