I actually love Dave Portnoy and am admittedly jealous that he was instrumental in pulling this off. While I think they threw a lite more money than LSU, they had to because they were so far behind.
The tipping point was the exposure he can get from Barstool to expand his “brand” and get more sponsors. I am not sure anyone else can offer what Portnoy did.

1. Not go after such an out of state risky QB
2. Have a contingency plan in place
3. This is most important. Not promote an unqualified and terrible OC simply to reel in one commit.
