Caddo Public
37° and calm
TX5 saddle
Hoyt Torrex XT

My nephew called and said he was tired of hunting in a box stand staring at a feeder, so I told him to grab his bow and drive north.

Ive got him set up in one of my favorite trees. Hope he can stick his first buck with his bow.

I hiked further down the creek till I found some fresh sign. Set up on a few fresh scrapes. Just had something come and check one in the dark.

Good luck gents

Buddy of mine gave her to me, I feel like I’m cheating on ol girl when I don’t take her with me. Had a bunch of rust and neglect so I lipsticked her up. She went from being a Waffle House waitress to a SI model.

Pretty gun, I just got my 30-30 over summer. What bullets are you using? I'm mainly using mine in the woods where my shots are 75 yards max. I know that the 30-30 has killed more deer than blue tongue but I'm curious how it does, do you normally get pass throughs?

That’s where they shine and the reason they get poopoo on is because people try to stretch them out, I don’t bring mine if I know I will have farther than a 125-150yd shot.
I’m shooting a 170gr corelokt and 50-75 double lung they will exit. I killed my biggest buck ever with one at about 75yd and it left a blood trail ray charles could follow but the bullet was stuck under the hide far side.

Good to hear. I'm using 150 gr Hornady American Whitetail but the gun came with 6 old boxes of the heavy core lokts. I put a skinner peep sight on it and can shoot 1-1.5 inch groups out to 75 yards. It's a lot easier to maneuver in a tree than my 308.

I shoot the 160 gr Honady Leverevolutions.
They are super accurate out of my Marlin 30-30

Walked in about 15 minutes late. Walked up on a big and wide buck. Never got a clean shot for my muzzle loader. Hope I didn’t push him far!

Shot a doe. Quartering to me slightly. Some gut in blood. Giving it a few hours before looking further.

Eta: it's cold enough. Gonna wait until the morning. My poor dog is gonna be shaking all night because she saw me take her tracking collar and harness out.

That's a dead deer. Looks liver hit. Yes looks gut too but that is what normally happens with that kind of hit. Post pick when you find your deer. great deer for a dog to track

I'm thinking that as well, just don't want to risk bumper her. Shot sight looked like good blood then got watery quick. She stopped for a few seconds about 30 yards from where I hit her and that's the puddle from it in the pic.
