One of the most iconic bits of guitar string plucking there ever was … he was Jimmy Page’s idol:

I remember reading somewhere that he put acoustic strings in his electric guitar to get the Bond tone.

Might have been a radio interview

Not sure but in the video I posted that is the actual guitar he played the part on, a 1939 Clifford Essex Paragon DeLuxe. It was an acoustic arch top so it might have had acoustic strings on it, it was modified with a D’Armond pickup … I found an an interview with him where he said he put a crushed cigarette pack underneath it to get it as close to the strings as possible … and a primitive whammy bar, and he ran it through a Vox AC-15.

Vic Flick
He was pretty enmeshed in the Beatles world. He played directly on a McCartney album and also with the "George Martin Orchestra" that did that back up work for the A Hard Day's Night film itself.

I believe he also played on the Peter and Gordon tune A World Without Love, written by McCartney, that went to #1 as well.

Same. Corny or not, the Bond movies are still some of my favorites...

I grew up at the start of the Roger Moore era and loved all of them..

This! Fond memories growing up watching the Bond films at the cinema. One of the most easily recognizable movie themes. R.I.P.
